Pros: good location for scouting attractions in Wales, in village centre though not to much to do there anyway. A feeling of historical Georgian and timber buildings is indeed preserved with some care and style. Small pot of porto wine is complimentary for all the guests staying in hotel. Cons: dirty breakfast dishes. Tea spoons were so badly washed that... more

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Llangollen at Gales. This is a family run hotel and I found everyone to be very friendly with good advice. Whilst I agree with other reviews that the car park is quite small, I managed to find a space. And as the hotel is in a central location, I didn't need to use the... more

Me and my husband stayed in the annex building on the 1st floor looking out onto the car park. The welcome on arrival wasn't very welcoming was left to find things ourselves and was told no emergancy procedures or had instructions on how to contact anyone with a problem/emergancy. The side of the bath was dusty and general cleanliness was... more

Our room was very big and made a grand first impression because of the antique furniture in the historical building. The bed was a bit soft though. Bathroom and shower cabin door didn't close wel. A rain shower is quite pleasant, but it's a waste of water and energy (and it took "forever" to get hot). One should see it... more

I stayed at this hotel for business purposes, and as I was arriving on a Sunday night, was the only guest at the hotel. I stayed in one of the suites, so my room comprised a living room area and bedroom which was well furnished and also had a dvd player which was handy for an evening alone. I was... more

We have just returned from a one night stay at Gales and tend to agree over the car parking issue. The archway into the car park is tight and the parking area is small but there are a number of car parks within 200 yds of Gales which are surprisingly cheap and free after 1700 hrs. The Hotel is clean... more

A lovely hotel spoilt by a few details. We had a suite (Room 14) consisting of a bedroom, sitting room, lobby with wardrobe, and bathroom. The bed was comfortable, as were the setees and chairs in the sitting room (one was a settee-bed, ideal for families). Decor was clean and tidy and the cleaning well attended to. Bedside tables were... more

I booked 3 rooms at Gales for a weekend stay for Quiltfest in Llangollen this year, 2 singles and a double. Gales is a cracking place to stay in a lovely artsy town, the home of the Eisteddfod. The hotel has a small carpark, which requires some precise driving to get into and out of: the archway was not built... more

Bedroom was extremely well renovated and furnished. The wine bar is an excellent place to stay for meals, with interesting menu, friendly staff and good wines. more
