Like other TA commentators I remember staying at Cobden's when it was an iconic Snowdonain hotel famous for its walker and climbers bar. Sadly now has a well deservedly poor reputation. We popped in this week to see if thehad a spare room for the night and decided to pitch a tent on Dol Gam instead bcause it was so... more

we stay at cobdens quite often and i think the last review is wrong because we have never had a bad meal or drink at cobdens in fact they have just won the pub of the season (summer 2009) award by camra . I personaly think more people should forget the decor (as the owner wont spend on the property)... more

We had stayed here a couple of years ago and hadnt been overly impressed, so expectations were low, but they really managed to surpass them this time! The annoying thing is that you can see what great potential it has due to its location, but the current management just don't seem to care. We were received with little enthusiasm and... more

The staff were extremely friendly and the food was good and plentiful. Breakfast was very filling and I was impressed with the generous portions, especially the smoked salmon and eggs. However, the general cleanliness and overall care of the place was sadly lacking. Although the building needs much decoration and general updating of shabby furnishings, the things that could be... more

We stayed at Cobdens for 1 night in july 2008. I had stayed there 3 years ago and had rebooked without checking recent reviews but the place seems to have taken a downturn. Our rooms was horrible, shabby, mouldy round the windows and the toilet could do with more than a little bleach. On top of that we were kept... more

I would have liked to say all the previous views are wrong because the welcome I received from staff was great, however have to be honest and say there is room for further improvement. Reception staff were informed and fiendly letting me know there was a local firework display that evening and I was welcome to join other staff that... more

I've visited Cobdens at least once a year over the last five years as part of a group. We have chosen the hotel due to its location, which is in prime walking territory, and in general have found that it lives up to its reputation as a basic hotel aimed at walkers. Up until recently Cobdens has suited us well... more

Rooms are basic, but everything is clean and food is fine. The rear bar that is built into the rocky hillside is worth seeing. We stayed in rooms 6,8 and 8and1/2. Room 8and/12 is a family room and was the best of the three as it had a 2nd room with twin beds and well as the main double room. more

Cobdens is ideally located for walking/scrambling/climbing in Snowdonia. The hotel is listed as 2 star and does what is says on the tin. We had comfortable beds, a TV and tea and coffee making facilities. The hotel has a drying room and the hotel next door has a launderette. The hotel is located on the main road so if traffic... more
