Two members of my family and I stayed at Tan y Foel while touring Wales and we found it delightful. It was private, quiet, and the rooms and baths were very comfortable. The staff did not hover over you, which was a plus. It was all very relaxing. We dined there one night and had an excellent meal. I look... more

How much you like this hotel will depend on what you want from a hotel. If you want a warm welcome, smiley staff and a nice atmosphere, it is not for you. But if you don't care about any of that and don't mind stilted, overly formal service, then you'll probably enjoy it. We stayed for two nights. Our room... more

We stayed in room 5 which had a great view down the valley. Both the bedroom and bathroom were lovely. The food and wine experience here is amazing. We had 3 nights of beautifully cooked and presented food. And breakfasts are equally good! more

I have to recommend this country house. The hosts are so welcoming, the room was lovely and the food was just amazing - they should have a michelin star! The setting is perfect for exploring the Snowdonia national park. We will definitely be returning. more

Guest room comfortable and clean. Facilities try to leave the impression of being upscale, but in their efforts the host and hostess come across reserved, bordering on snobby. Breakfast foods were excellent, but the lack of back ground music makes the room stuffy. No internet facilities. more

We have just returned from our 3 night romantic break at Tan-Y-Foel Country House Hotel. We have been treating ourselves to the ambience of this special tranquil hideaway in Snowdonia every year for the past 13 years - sometimes returning twice within the same year! We never cease to marvel at the hospitality and impeccable attention to detail that Peter... more

Although I have used Tripadvisor before, I have never felt like writing a review, it was only when a friend showed me the reviews of this, my very favourite hotel in the world that I felt sufficiently moved to put "pen to paper". I'm not exactly sure how many times my wife and I have stayed at the Tan-y-Foel over... more

Don't loose your key. On the second night of our stay we found ourselves locked out at 10.15 having gone for a stroll. The front doorbell didn't work, and no one would answer the knocks at the windows or the telephone when rang. Our £218 a night room was not avaliable, and we slept in the car. But - what... more

Dear Tripadvisor Having recently been enlightened to the comments published on May 2, 2005 by A TripAdvisor Member, Nottingham UK I write to clarify a few issues concerning this known gentlemens stay. Throughout Mr Nottingham UK's two night stay with us he at no time passed any comment or expressed any concern to us about his room or our choice...

Bedrooms small and cramped. Atmosphere stuffed and mournful. The owners should be running a funeral palour not a guest house. Don't expect to sit around with friends after dinner. The young lady in charge retires around 10pm, so does the bar key. No one to serve you a glass of water after that. Good dinner though, if hunger is the... more
