Firstly, just from looking at the other reviews it seems to me that all the +ve reviews happen in peak season and all the -ve ones in the off season, maybe the Wellington has reduced house staff then??? Anyway, I'm about to buck that trend here. In any case, we stayed 1 night in Oct 2009 and couldn't of had... more

I did not have high expectations at £40 per night. We arrived at the Wellington Hotel for a two night stay (to attend a friend's wedding in the area). It's an old building, so I will forgive a few issues. The first problem was lack of parking. Street parking was available for 30 minutes, then the car had to be... more

Great central location. Would cost double this price in most town centres. Room basic, but clean and comfortable. Service good, except no daily change of towels. Staff and Management not only friendly, but good fun. more

I couldn't disagree more with the previous review. We arrived at the last minute on a Sunday night, past 9PM without a reservation. The staff went out of there way to help us, and charged a very reasonable price for the room. I can only assume that the previous comments where written about the wrong hotel, because the room we... more

.... stay here unless you have to. It's in serious need of renovations - the rooms are shabby & dirty and the bathroom looked like something you would find in a (old) hospital. Tips: Take flip flops, slippers or - even better - wellies, to wear in your room - if it's anything like ours, the carpet will be really... more

Good central location, nice clean room, good food, pleasant staff and only £46 per night for B&B - what more could you ask for? more

My room was dirty when I arrived, about 30 dead flies on the floor and windowsill. The floor sloped so much away from the bed headboard that I couldnt sleep properly the 1st night. I asked to be moved but they couldnt find another room, there was some recognition that this room was like that! After arriving back at the... more

The one positive about our overnight stay was that the staff seemed really nice. However thats where it ends. We paid about £150 for two rooms (1 family, 1 twin) Check in staff were really helpful and showed us to our grubby and dilapidated rooms, I'm talking sticky carpets here. The bathroon was like something from a Nursing home and... more

Stayed at the Welly with my husband for 1 night in July. The room was extremely clean, beds very comfy and there were tea and coffee facilities provided. The bathroom has obviously been updated and was very clean and toiletries provided. Breakfast was substantial and very tasty but the service was rather slow. The Welly is right in the middle... more
