Basic, but everything you need from a B&B. Comfy, warm, cosy and quiet. Bags of character, lovely staff and a full-english breakfast every morning. The entrance to the car park is very small and the car park is tiny (its the courtyard of a very old coaching inn), so not suitable for bigger people carrier/land rover type cars. The decor... More

Lovely people genuinely helpful. Unusual collection of rooms but very convenient for town. Yes the breakfast was great and served with smile. Courtyard access is tight but manageable for my estate car, though go slow. Stayed for 2 days Classed as a guest house but gave you a feeling of independence with own door onto courtyard. Good atmosphere

We stayed here two nights while visiting for a family funeral, so not the best of situations. But that aside, we were very pleased with our stay at the Borderers, we asked for a king size, en-suite, and ours had two single beds together, which is ok with us, and it makes the bed seem huge. (there was less of... More

We pulled into the tight but secure car park quite late on a Friday night - armed with a bottle of wine and some nice Welsh cheeses. The owner showed us to our room, explaining that there's free on street parking across the road, should we not find a free space when returning. She also armed us with a knife,... More

Rather old fashioned but clean and tidy. My room was a decent size but there was no ensuite. The bathroom - no shower - is across the narrow corridor and you get a key to ensure the bathroom is not used by anyone else. I asked for a vegetarian breakfast but surprisingly there were no veggie sausages and hash browns.... More

Stayed here with my family recently and can't fault our stay. The room was ideal and as it was a family room the children even had their own space "bedroom". Great couple, nice clean room and dog friendly too all for such a reasonable price. Breakfast was the icing on the cake!! Thanks Jan and Ian for a lovely stay

My wife and I stayed for two nights at the beginning of April 2012 on arrival we were asked if we wanted a room with a bath or shower, we elected a shower and were allocated room No 4. The room had a double bed an en-suite shower room, plenty of storage and tea/ coffee making facilities. Although small it... More

I and my friend headed to Brecon for a wedding, we had a twin room booked and arrived late Friday night. The room was ace for what we needed. Up for a full english in the morning, asked the owners the locations for where we needed to go and they could not help us enough. When it came to us... More

A one night stay and the most enjoyable of our holiday: a first time visit to Brecon and enough to make us want to return! The ground floor room in the back courtyard of the old inn had an excellent shower, large comfortable bed and there was plenty of room for all our bags and cases. Cosy and cottagey. The... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
A 17th century coaching Inn - 1645, to be precise, along with all the old bits still intact. We are constantly striving to keep everything up to date, with the addition of WiFi etc. The floors still creak, and we get reported sightings of ghosts.(We have never had such an experience in our 15 years here! Dare we suggest that it may just be the proximity of too many pubs?)Enjoy! ... more   less
