Stayed here on 19/10/09 for the first time. Usually stay at the Wellington but did a group booking with some colleagues. Arrived later than expected and the very lovely lady on reception gave up her parking space on the hotel grounds to make my tardy arrival a bit easier. Arrived in time for an extremely tasty pint in the bar... more

Being local, we did not stay overnight but had a meal at the restaurant for a family celebration. The menu was varied and catered for the traditional (steaks / mixed grill etc), as well as "something a bit different". (I highly recommend the salmon with lemon risotto and tarragon creme - perfect.) Also a fair vegetarian selection and wine list,... more

We didn't stay at The George but we did eat there a couple of times and we were pleasantly surprised at the standard and choice of meals, having been in (and very quickly out again) several other pubs in Brecon. The wine was good value and the service was professional and friendly. (Can't give a rating for the rooms but... more

Stayed over week-end, annexe, character room, modern facilities, comfortable. Bar with conservatory serving traditional meals, a little pricey for location but good quality. Town centre location, some noise from street but did not disturb sleep. Car parking arrangements in council facility close to hotel via permit. Bed comfortable, plenty hot water, good size bath, plenty towels - overall room comfortable.... more

We stayed in a standard double room. There is no dedicated parking for the hotel, there is a ‘pay and display’ car park to the rear, unfortunately during the daylight hours the max time a ticket lasts is 2 hours. This means every two hours you have to return to your car, and then again at 8am the following morning... more

I read on this website adverse reports from people who say they have stayed at the hotel and had a bad time. I wonder if they stayed at the same hotel as me? I enjoyed ny stay, the food was good, the staff were pleasant and helpful, and I enjoyed the real ales that were brewed locally. Probably a little... more

This is the worst hotel I have ever stayed at. Reception staff extremely rude and unhelpful. Parking is short term, meters need to be fed every 2 hours. Room shabby, peeling wallpaper, cracked and misfitting window. No internet access in annex, and no room service for breakfast. Both listed as amenities. Truly terrible. Avoid at all costs!! more

The noise outside this hotel is unbearable !!! Stayed one night with family and got no sleep due to its location in the middle of the town next to a bar that closed at 2am ! We had drunk screaming, fighting shouting louts walking around till about 4am. Because of this we closed the windows and the rooms became very... more

Website/Charging. Tariffs not shown. I was told £75 per night over the phone and then the hotel staff tried to charge £85 on check-out.This links with other reviews. Room. OK. Bed was unstable. Rooms very hot and outdoor environment very noisy. Staff. Varied. Some had a real attitude. Not customer focused. Others were very pleasent. Parking. We found free parking... more

The rooms are dated. The staff are rude. There is no parking. They charge more than agreed. You have lorries unloading at early hours of the morning, so sleep is out of the question. Food is terrible. Reception is dark and unstaffed. Manager has severe attitude problem. Would I stay here again? NO NO NO more
