This is a lovely place to stay. I felt very welcome there and it has a great homey atmosphere. Stephen and Melanie go out of their way to make sure you have everything you could ever need. I stayed for 10 days and would do it again. where's a private car park so you do have to be concerned about... More

We did arrive late on a Sat. nite, around 21.30, after a long drive from Bedford, checked in to our 3rd floor family room in the attic, ceilings too low for me and room a bit smelly. We went out for a bite to eat and returned around 23.00hrs, front door closed (we were told earlier this may be the... More

After a last minute booking through the Tourist Office we found ourselves at 'The Beacons'. Now it's not going to win any awards for style (we stayed in a bright fuscia coloured room that we think had been refurbished - style's a personal thing though) but it was clean, the bed was comfy, staff very friendly and the breakfast ok.... I read a few of the recent negative reviews and decided to give it a go. Stayed for 2 nights on business. Here are the highlights! 1. Room was very cold first night. Asked for an electric heater second night and got one (although I think the only one). As it happens after I stayed the radiator got warmer. However,... More

Unfortunately, a similar experience to that of our reviewers. While we found the b&b itself "acceptable" (we just needed a place to lay the head), the owners are quite indifferent, swinging between rude and conciliatory. When we arrived we were shown to a bedroom that had just been decorated recently. The room was lovely, immaculate job, new carpets, lovely colours... More

We were visiting Brecon for only one night and were recommended this place by some friends. However, it appears that they had a completely different experience. From the moment we arrived, we were made to feel unwelcome. We had to ring the doorbell several times before being let in. It then took ages for anyone to turn up and, when... More

We booked this B&B based on their website and the price. The B&B appears to be a family run business. We arrived 4:30 on a Thursday early October to a very disinterested welcome yet we appeared to be the only guests that night - maybe they wanted the night off. The bedroom was a good size which is important when... More

Dear Guest, Thank you for taking the time to write your review. We are currently going through a process of upgrading rooms (4/5 this winter) but as I hope you can appreciate this does take time as some rooms are in greater need than others but I am sure we can look at doing something with this particular room. Apologies... More

Something very odd about this place, but credit where credit is due. This is a straightforward B&B giving just what you expect for the price. It is clean and stuff works. OK, so the packed lunches are a bit cheap and mingey, but what would one expect for £3.95 (in fact, all the breakfast food is cheap, cash & carry... More

Dear Guest, Thank you for taking the time to write a review. In your post regarding the packed lunches we are unsure as to what you mean, our packed lunches comprises a freshly made sandwich of your choice with many options on white or brown bread, a piece of fruit, packet of crisps and a bar of chocolate (water bottles... This is a very good guest house. We booked at the last minute and arrived at 9.30pm on a Sunday evening. The welcome we received from a young gentleman there was very professional and welcoming. We were shown to our room which was clean and comfortable. The room was small, basic but we could not fault it. The bed was... More

This is a well-run & welcoming guest house in a perfect location. There seems to be a whole family on duty - running reception and making / serving the excellent cooked breakfasts. So far, so good. Unfortunately I booked very late, and was given a room in a small annexe at the back of the main guest house. Despite being... More
