Booked online thinking it was a hotel with restaurant & bar as advertised, beware the rest & bar are only open Fri - Mon so check first if you want this. The rooms are clean & tidy and the breakfast is very good. Ensure you take a mobile phone as the lodge door was locked as we arrived and you... more

I stayed with my son as we were on an activity trip for three days kayaking. I left it late to book in Hay on Wye not knowing about the festival! showing my ignorance, but the Lodge had a barn with bunk beds that suited us just fine. It has a lovely courtyard, a duck pond and you can use their barby which was used the night we stayed by people camping. It even has a swimming pool. We stayed for... more

My wife and I visited Hay on Wye (The Welsh Book Store Village) and reached nearby "The black Mountain Lodge" very late in the evening. It was a lovely place but it was fully booked having only a room with "double-deck" bunks. Having no choice we took it as is. But the owners, notwithstanding the late hour, decided we should enjoy... more
