Stayed here at the weekend to do some shopping, expecting a luxurious getaway experience. However, this place has had a 'slapdash' makeover and has many faults including - no bathrobes, no cafetiere, no 'chic' feel, broken furniture, uneven laminate floors, dirty cutlery, rubbish breakfast. Only good if you can get it cheap. more

It started with the odd entrance and up a lift to the second floor where we entered a building site. Seemly they had an underground leak and the floors were all lifted. It is to be repaired by the end of this week. Dust and dirt everywhere. My mother and I arrived at 11:20 am to be informed check-in was... more

This was booked for me by work and when I saw it was a Niche Hotel, I had high hopes because I love the Grey Street Hotel in Newcastle-Upon-Tyne which is owned by the same people. The problems started with getting into the hotel: there's an entryphone system on both sides which operates day and night and the staff treat... more

Good hotel right in the center of Cardiff, with the Millennium Stadium and numerous restaurants on its doorstep. The hotel is easily missed (next door to Edwards & O'Neils) and the entry system seems a bit overcomplicated. Being in the center can bring its own problems, with traffic noise and people leaving pubs / clubs (even on a Tuesday night).... more

Struggled to find either entrance to the hotel. Once we did find it we found the staff very helpful and friendly, but despite this - there were many problems. The room was set up as a double when we had requested a twin, we asked for the safe to be reset and for our fluffy bathrobes which were promised on... more

We stayed at the Royal Hotel for one night recently--a stopover on the way to walking in other parts of Wales. We arrived around lunch time very tired from a transatlantic flight and they made our room available to us even though it was a few hours before check-in. The room and bathroom were spacious, clean, bright, and quite nice.... more

We paid full rate of about £140 per night so had high expectations - if we had paid the discount rate they offer which is about £60 per night then perhaps we would have been a bit more understanding - place is not all that bad and the location is very central but problems are: 1. no parking so you... more

This hotel has an excellent location and is ideal for exploring the city. The door entry system however is a nightmare, you have to press a buzzer and wait for the door to be opened. When we arrived at the hotel there were people trying to get in at both entrances, after ten minutes reception eventually opened the door, I... more

We stayed in this Hotel, and to be honust I wasn't expecting a lot but I was plesantly suprised. The staff were friendly, we had a few problems with the room and the maid service was discraseful to be frank. On the whole the hotel is fine, it has a very central location and is clean. However the bathrooms could... more

We stayed in a twin room for one night for the Speedway GP weekend, and were very happy with our stay. The hotel is about 200 yards from the Millenium Stadium so it was a perfect location for us. The room was moderm & clean, and the beds were very comfortable (lovely duvets). Some noise from the local nightclub, but... more
