Staying at this hotel has motivated me to write my first TripAdvisor review, and to be honest I wish I had read all the other reviews prior to booking. The location of the Millenium Lodge (or M L Lodge) is spot on, a short walk from the train station and near many decent pubs and bars. We paid a hefty... more

I have virtually copied my reply from the next review below. This is because this review is from the 2nd guest in the same room Firstly to clarify whilst you check in at a different hotel the ML Lodge and the Sandringham Hotel do not share the same owners. 1/.We did not overbook the Lodge. The guest booked a double...

How can this shabby, smelly building be classed as a hotel? No reception (you have to cross a busy main road to check in/out at the Sandringham), no coffee/tea facilities in my room as advertised and rooms that stink of chip fat and chicken! This is a backpacker hostel, and a bad one at that. Recently visited Cardiff with some... more

Firstly to clarify whilst you check in at a different hotel the ML Lodge and the Sandringham Hotel do not share the same owners. 1/.There is tea and coffee facilities in the room so the guest must have missed them. 2/.We did not overbook the Lodge. The guest booked a double room and it was confirmed in writing. 3/.The ML...

The sheets are cleaned by a professional laundry. Any problems with them should have been noticed by our staff and then sent back. I apologise to the guest for not doing this. I did find a little mold in the bathroom and this has been removed. I did not find the room to be dirty or dusty. I think the...

I walked the streets of Cardiff trying to find this hotel - even spoke to some locals who had never heard of it! When we eventually found it, we realised why! The hotel doesn't have any frontage, It's just a door located next to a fast food restaurant - you can smell the 'cooking' all the way up the stairs... more

The ML Lodge is a nine bedroom Bed and Breakfast located in the heart of the city centre so I do not as I am sure many other visitors would not agree that we are located in an area "that is not great". The fact that some locals have not heard of us could be that we are a one...

The man on the front desk at check-in was rude simply because we requested to check in before the 3pm time. Staff appear to be very poorly trained and do not have it together. I concur with previous visitors complaints about the noise from the fast food restraunt beneath, If only I had researched this hotel better before booking. more

At around £40-60 a night this hotel offers value for the money. The room I had was a massive double with ensuite despite me only booking a single. It was clean and really bright due to the massive windows overlooking the street. The room has above average facilities for the price. The breakfast was good and there is a generous... more

Ok where to begin, two of us went for the Community Shield match 13th Aug 2006, after finding the lodge on active hotels the location was perfect as it is two minutes away from the Millennium Stadium. However on arrival I found this to be quite possibly the worst hotel I have ever come across, I stayed in a youth... more

The genuine problems mentioned have been adhered to. The remaining comments are strange to the point that I am not sure if they are a wind up. The guest has refused to speak to us about it so I think this may be a joke.

Possibly the worst hotel I have ever stayed in; when we arrived in the hotel room it wasn't long before we discovered faeces on the bed sheets, coupled with the dirty towels in the bathroom, it was clear that nothing had been washed from the previous night. The 'lodge' is directly above a fast food diner "Cottage Chicken". If you... more

All of our linen and towels are washed and ironed by a professional company. The hotel is graded by the tourist board and would surely close if this guest review was true.

I stayed here with a friend for one night whilst visiting Cardiff. The hotel is located on St Mary's Street in the heart of Cardiff, minutes away from the Millennium Stadium. But if you're after a luxury stop-over, this isn't for you. While our experience wasn't horrific, there are a number of big downfalls to this place that I wish... more
