Both Maddy and NIck were great hosts and made us feel very welcome during our 3 night stay. A great start to our stay (upon arrival) was to receive Welsh Cakes and fresh milk to make a very welcome cup of tea-wonderful! We had a really lovely room which was very quiet and nicely decorated. Breakfast was also wonderful (loads... More

Upon arriving at this fabulous establishment we were greeted by Nick with much needed tea and home made welsh cakes and shown to our very large tastefully decorated room (frankly the bed was big enough for five people).  Nick was extremely helpful giving us a great description of the local area and helping us to find somewhere to eat. We stayed with Nick and Maddy at Barlands Cottage last weekend, for 2 nights. We were welcomed by Nick and shown to our room, which overlooked the lane and valley beyond. Nick gave us lots of information about where to eat that evening, gave us a map and looked up information on the internet regarding Mass at the Catholic Church... More

Welsh cakes and tea were offered as our welcoming gifts. The decor in the bedroom is very cosy with antique design and also a very big and comfortable bed. Not forgetting... More

Myself and my partner arrived at this character looking building really looking forward to our little break, only to find that there was nobody to great us and show us our room, also there was a strong smell of damp, lots of cobwebs up the stairs. Another guest staying there told us she wasn't sure where the owner had gone,... More

We have stayed 3 times now with Nick and Maddy and always have a very enjoyable time. They are friendly hosts and the rooms are well equipped. The last couple of visits have been with our now 1 year old daughter and so we have taken advantage of the travel cot and high chair. We drink lots of tea and... More

We stayed with Nick and Maddy when we were in the area for a friend's wedding. Our other friends stayed in the room opposite ours. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The hosts were very attentive. The fresh warm welsh cakes on arrival were a really nice touch. Recommended to all.

Really enjoyed our stay at Barlands Cottage, the initial offer of fresh milk and welsh cakes made us feel very welcome. Appreciated the info on pubs, the map and the needed torch. The bedroom and bathroom were very comfortable and well-equipped. A lovely breakfast with a very welcoming chatty host - just about perfect! We've already raved on to others... More
