tiny rooms, smelt funny. All the reviewers here are spot on, i've stayed in alot of hostels and this is pretty bad. Spot is ok but i felt like i was in a prison. We spent most of the days out and about and didnt want to go back to the hostel.

I am writing this review before even checking out. This place is a dump. It's filthy. Who knows when it was last mopped? The beds had skin flakes, "white stains", blood stains and human hair. We threw the sheets and duvet cover on the floor because we nearly got sick. The beds do not have mattresses. More like a cinder... More

I spent a lot of last summer in International Youth Hostels in Australia and they were of the highest quality. I presumed that the UK versions would be the same. Wrong. The hostel was barely clean and my room (at the back) was on a corridor that stank of sewage. There was no hot water for showers on two out... More

A reviewer below said it all (EmilyRevels) This hostel is truly disgusting and nearly ruined my impression of Belfast. -The hallways smell like of god knows what. -The rooms are very small and dingy. -The bunk beds are quite possibly a health and safety hazard. They- squeaked and heaved back and forth with every movement. The mattresses were covered in... More

I spent a week doing a Shamrocker tour at the end of May 2013. After staying at some amazing hostels in Ireland, we ended up at BUIH. It is the exact type of hostel which give hostels a bad name. Some things cannot be helped such as the size of the rooms, but many things here are fixable. The beds... More

Here is really friendly staff. And the rooms are nice, quite basic hostel beds. Shower and toilet were ok. Very peaceful hostel when I stayed there 1 night. I had nothing to complain! I especially want to thank a little bit older, professional man in reception. He was really great!

Standard hostel experience really, staff were friendly and the secure car park was very useful as not sure the neighbourhood is somewhere one would park an Irish registered car given we watched some locals painting Union Jack colours on the kerbside out the window of the room! Wifi worked intermittently, the shower was a bit on the cold side but... More

Many thanks for taking the time to share your experience at our Belfast Youth Hostel. I'm sorry to hear that you found it a bit noisy - unfortunately being in a city centre location, near to all local attractions, means that there is often noise from outside which we have no control over. I hope that it didn't disturb your... More

Terrible plastic wrapped creaky beds. Grumpy old man staff who told us he would confiscate our wine. Gross slimy showers. No soap anywhere to be found. Just don't stay here if you want to enjoy belfast.

This wasn't the best hostel that I've stayed at, but it also wasn't the worst. Pros: located not far from the downtown area, cool cafe downstairs, helpful staff, great value for the price. Cons: Two person rooms are very small (though I stayed in a 6 person room the next time and it was much bigger), showers not very clean... More
