We stayed here for 3 nights in the Macneice suite. I would highly recommend upgrading to a suite. The room was spacious and well appointed and the bed was terrific. We had daily breakfast included in our rate and that too was delicious. Most places offer buffets, but here It was a cooked to order breakfast which was nice. The... More

Stayed with my wife for her birthday treat. Very warm and courteous welcome at desk. Very efficient and yet also very friendly. The porter taking us and our bag to the room kept the friendly efficient theme going and also gave us a short but interesting potted history of the building. The room was beautiful exactly as a room in... More

The Merchant is definitely one of my favourite bars. It's expensive, but a great place to go for a special occasion or treat. The service is excellent, and the drinks list extensive. We have also eaten there and would recommend the restaurant too.

We stayed in the Merchant again this past week and almost every aspect of our stay was excellent. (More on this shortly) The only problem, and it was quite substantial, is that we discovered that all rooms at any price are not the same. We had requested the same suite that we stayed in last year and when we arrived... More

Excellent stylish hotel. Great service and the quality of the facilities are first class. Had Breakfast in our room and it was easily the best I've ever had. Everything is delivered on a table complete with a white table cloth, silver tea pot, warm food and hot pastries. All excellent!

The Merchant Hotel's Great Room is very impressive and is a great setting for afternoon tea. There is a good selection of sandwiches, scones, desserts and teas and the staff are very attentive, polite and helpful. Overall it is a very pleasant and relaxing experience.

Enjoyed one night as a gift - and what a gift! The staff from arrival to checkout were friendly and professional. The room was lovely in the new wing in art deco style and very spacious as was the bathroom. We enjoyed a spa treatment, dinner in The Great Room and again breakfast next morning. This was probably the most... More
