This hotel is approx 1hr from the Belfast City airport just outside the town of Newcastle. On arrival, check-in was very swift and friendly. The reception area was warm and well decorated. Hotel has just been refurbished. We were in the Mourne suite which was very spacious with all the facilities you would want except a mini bar, safe &... more

My husband and I have just returned from a 2 night break in the Burrendale & would highly recommend the hotel to anyone. Having said that we did get an upgrade to an Ambassador room which was so spacious & comfortable we didn't want to leave the room. The breakfasts offered a great choice & we had one evening dinner... more

If you were to rank this hotel by rating on the service front and the helpfulness of the staff then I am afraid that it is beyond rating and off the scales. My partner and I stayed here for 2 nights and from the moment I stepped onto the premises I felt warm, special and wanted we were made feel... more

I live in Boston and was recently at a wedding at the Burrendale Hotel. It was a damp miserable day...the hotel had the heat cranked up with a open fire in the main bar, all the staff were polite and helpful, they were on the younger side. The rooms are a little out dated but pleasant. The food was great... more

i've just returned from a lovely stay at the Burrendale. However i agree with the last few reviews about the rooms. I went to the burrendale with my partner and our son, the room we were given was very small and very basic. I had asked the receptionist were they all the same as i wasnt happy the first girl... more

My boyfriend and I stayed here as a birthday treat last week with my sister and her husband. I was thoroughly impressed by the Burrendale and its amazing staff. The staff (especially Claire, Joanna and the night porter) are magnificently trained. They cater to your every need in a throughly efficient and friendly manner but are never supercilious or fawning.... more

Just back from an overnight stay at the Burrendale. Overall impression is that it is a bit dated. Our room was large but cold, we asked for the heat to be turned on as there are no controls in the room to do this ourselves. The noise in our room from the leisure centre was horrific, something like a jumbo... more

We had a good couple of nights at the Burrendale. Our room was fine, although the furniture is a little tired now but still has everything you need. Our only real issue with the room was the heating; no control over it and it was very noisey when the heating came on - at 4.15am both mornings. The bathroom was... more

Travelling as 2 couples. As soon as we were shown our rooms we decided not to stay in the Burrendale. The rooms were old fashioned and unattractive, not a modern hotel as is portrayed in the website. We ended up taking accommodation in the Slieve Donard for the same price as the Burrendale was expecting. Overall, the Burrendale does not... more
