We stayed at the Briers for 3 days at the end of July beginning of August this year. Our room was bright, clean and tidy and the staff were extremely welcoming, making us feel relaxed and at home. The choice for breakfast was expansive, from smoked salmon and scrambled eggs to the more traditional ulster fry. The buffet of yoghurts,... more

The B&B is a old farmhouse that looks like it's been modernised & extended. The interior is completely modern. It's located about a mile outside the centre of Newcastle off a quiet side road in a rural setting. On arrival we were greeted with tea The person on reception was very helpful in booking us a table in one of... more

We stayed here for 3 nights and we were extremely satisfied. The rooms were very good and scenery excellent but it was the hospitality that made it most memorable. Our every need was catered for. It was a home from home experience even allowing us to have a late breakfast which I have never experienced before. It was certainly value... more

Having visited other parts of Northern Ireland before we decided on visting Newcastle, Co Down; a lovely part of Northern Ireland at the foot of the Mourne Mountains. I found our whole experience with Suzan and Margaret (the owners) lovely, from the warm welcome we received to their help with any questions I had about the area. Our room was... more

Stayed in the Briers last month for a couple of days and was far from impressed!! I don't know when my room last seen a hoover or a duster!! Also got a shock when I discovered no top sheet under the duvet. Good job there was a throw on the bed to help keep a bit of heat in. Rooms... more

The reviews are very positive but I feel the experience would be enhanced if it lived up to the promise of the website. We were not really welcomed, Suzan and Margaret are delightful but busy mums who seem to have a lot of commitments. We were shown our room as quickly as possible and left to it. No complementary tea... more

We spent our first night in Ireland in this wonderful bed and breakfast. The rooms were spacious and modern, and the setting was lovely. Our hosts went out of their way to make us feel welcomed, and the breakfast was ample. Highly recommended! more

We'll start from the bottom line - best B&B we've ever stayed in. Really. The location is stunning - fantastic view of the mountains and only 5 minutes' drive from the town centre. We got a huge room with a large comfy bed and a bathroom with a bath that could easily fit two people (not a bad idea after... more

We picked "The Briers" becasue of the very positive reviews on Trip Advisor and it did not live up to expectations. Positives: Quiet Location Friendly Staff Areas that can be improved: Breakfast is good if you like an Ulster fry - otherwise it is just average compared to other B&B's we have stayed in which had freshly baked bread and... more

Nice and warm welcome on rainy day. We stayed there just for one night but definitely it will be our choice for next time in that area. If you're looking for very quite, nice, clean and friendly place to stay The Briers is Your choice. more
