Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Having read and seen some bad pictures of some rooms I was presently surprised to walk into a clean and comfy room. The sofa was fine and bed comfortable. Perfect for an overnighter. The morning had kids running corridors and did become noisy. Breakfast however was a complete mess. Busy with Various items missing. No bacon, hash brown, orange juice, cups and at one point knifes and spoons. Overall ok for price paid.

Hotel a lot nicer and cleaner than some of the pricier options in Aberdeen. Centrally located, so easy to get around. Breakfast buffet with loads of choices and option to take away Staff very friendly and happy to go the extra mile. Especially Mr Bentar

We were both handed a McVities Club biscuit on arrival at reception which seemed a bit odd but amusing nonetheless. The staff were very polite and friendly. On arrival to our room there was a printed note with 2 pairs of ear defenders attached.....an ominous start. However, despite it being a Saturday and there being 2 nightclubs on the same street as the hotel, it wasn't terribly noisy. The room was ok, a typical standard room. There was a sofa bed in the room which quite frankly should be taken out and burnt. Neither my wife or myself risked sitting on it. The only other let down was the quality of the breakfast, the sausages and bacon were very bland and lacked flavour. It's also the first hotel I've stayed at where black pudding and haggis were not offered. Apart from that it's an ok hotel if you're on a budget.

Response from IHG Service, Owner at Holiday Inn Express Aberdeen City Centre, an IHG Hotel
Responded 6 days ago
Dear James C, Thank you for selecting our Holiday Inn Express Aberdeen City Centre while visiting Aberdeen and for providing feedback about your experience. It's a pleasure having you as our guest. I am truly sorry you did not experience an exemplary stay due to our breakfast and the noise in the room. This is certainly below our usual high standard of service. Please be certain that I have noted and forwarded your feedback for the management to improve. In the middle of your experience, I am glad to know that the service of our staff and the hotel's location were still appreciated. Please grant us the opportunity to prove ourselves again. Best Regards, Ben W. Case Manager IHG Hotels and Resorts Service

Always stay here - best value for money and very convenient for theatres, clubs, restaurants etc. Only complaint - TV in the room seemed to have its internal clock set about 12 hours earlier than the actual time - meaning that every time you wanted to change channel, you had to scroll through the whole TV guide to get where you wanted ! . . . Little point I know but it needed sorting ( we did ask a couple of times for it to be sorted out - and also when we checked out so hopefully it was just an issue in our room). Otherwise, great value for money, clean, quiet and a great breakfast selection.

This is as a brilliant find. I was going with my dad to the Spectra festival and wanted somewhere central, it was less than 10 away from the festival beginning in union terrace gardens. The staff were lovely from start to finish. The room was a great size for two people and the shower was one if the best I’ve had. The breakfast was really fresh, tasty and so much choice. This was great value for money (best price in town) would definitely recommend and come back to.

The pre-arrival emails set modest expectations. While initial parking options seemed limited, we found a convenient spot at an adjacent NCP for £18. On arrival, we discovered there was free onsite parking—a pleasant surprise. A subsequent email hinted at a restrained breakfast with only 4 options. However, reality exceeded expectations with a buffet of 7 hot, tasty choices and an extensive continental selection, including porridge. Jules particularly savored the freshly made croissants, deeming them "delectable" and a compelling reason to return. The room, adorned in 1980s dark blue with angular cutouts reminiscent of a Miami Vice nightclub, showcased a comfortable bed and a powerful shower. Throughout our stay, the staff's warmth added to the overall positive experience.

Great location, easy checkin. Room very clean and a sofa to sit on. TV okay and great location for the City. (Art Gallery 10 mins). Breakfast is very good and a very good Italian at the end of the street “Amore”. Reception have 10% discount vouchers for Amore, but unfortunately they did not avail us of them. We came from the Airport by Taxi , about 20 mins and £25.

The staff are fabulous and the service is always with a smile. The reception is welcoming and all staff can't do enough for you. Loved the breakfast you can have it in peace and staff are always at hand if you need anything. The room is spacious and adequate pillows and cleaning is done to a high standard. You do get a good night's sleep and you feel cozy and at home. Everytime I run out of coffee etc I am replenished by the smiling staff. I would recommend the hotel to anyone. It is close to the shopping street, takeaways and other food outlets are close. Buses are easy to catch and you return back to the hotel where you know its warm and the showers are good. They provide an iron, ironing board hair dryer and above all the hotel is welcoming. Checking out is easy and the member of staff on reception this morning was so helpful. I was allowed to keep my luggage in a safe area and use the lounge. I was offered a coffee and what else can you ask for. To everyone at The Hotel, thank you for all that you do. Keep it up and we will see you again, soon. 😀😀😀

Avoid this hotel until it gets a much needed make over and the house keepers get trained on how to clean a room properly. Hairs found on bathroom floor, shower glass had lots of stains all of it and worst of all I found stains on both bath towels in my room. First towel had big dirty water marks on it like it had been used and hung back up on the rail and when I went to use the other towel in my room I was shocked to find multiple blood stains on it. My room also never had a sofa bed in it despite booking a 'Double Bed with Sofa Bed' room. All I had was a small pathetic dining chair in the corner of my room. My 'hot' breakfast in the morning was also luke warm at best and went cold very quickly. Overall a very disapointing experience, can't say I will ever return to this branch or chain again after this.
