Ethie Castle has been saved by Mr & Mrs de Morgan and looks splendid.
A red sandstone building dating from the 14th Century and reputed to be Scotland's second oldest permanently inhabited "castle"near Arbroath but rather hard to find.
The garden restoration is superb.
When we entered the cold hall at twilight we had a jolly interrogation from Mrs de Morgan and eventually we were shown to a twin bed room. Unfortunately when I requested that we should have the room I chose at the time of booking (a four poster double) it became clear that the owner had no intention of this due to my partner being the same sex.
Now this is the second time in my life this has occurred and never quite recovering from the first I stated that we as Civil Partners were very used to sharing a four poster bed at home and this is what we reserved and now wanted for the next three nights.
We were told by the owner she was very disappointed and we never saw her again . I think...
