had great time in one of the luxury rooms, was really nice, had dinner in the bar as the restaurant was not able to accomodate a pram as our baby slept but got a good seat and staff very accomodating with baby, food inbar wa restaurant standard and excellent. Chose to have breakfast in bed for easiness as meant we... more
We stayed at The George in May en route to Islay. It was our first time in Inveraray and thought the setting was stunning. Yes the outside of the hotel did look a bit weathered but so did most of the town & for us, at least, this did not detract from the charm of the place. Although our stay... more
What some people seem to forget on here is that this is a very old buidling, hence some of the dark rooms, it is by a loch in Scotland, hence the fish on the menu!!! I have stayed several times at the George and am in the Merchants room in the next weeks or two for a few nights. Previously... more
This was the second time we have stayed at the George Hotel and it was just as good as the first time. Very friendly staff and wonderful food, particularily the breakfast in bed. The bedrooms are just amazing with four poster beds and Jacuzzis. We will be back. more

The George was our first stop on our three day Silver Anniversary trip.We weren't dissapointed with the room. It was beautifully furnished with antiques, and a lovely four poster bed. The double jacuzzi made the room extra special and the addition of candles was very thoughtful. The adjoining bathroom was also lovely and the bath robes were a nice touch.The... more
The George is full of old furniture, paintings and fittings and has lots of character. Excellent large room with a comfortable 5' bed. Friendly staff. Food is generally good though a bit hit and miss - good home-made burgers, well cooked fish, breakfast was slightly disappointing. Very dog friendly. Limited parking. more
Didn't stay here but stopped off for a bite to eat on a brief stay in Inverarary. Absolutely mighty craic in the bar all night and a lovely meal beforehand in the restaurant. The owner Chris was a total legend and bought me and my partner a drink- totally uncalled for- and that just about sums up the hospitality of... more
