This 2 Star Hotel was exceptionally clean with lovely white cotton bedding and soft white towels which were changed daily. Breakfast was lovely and they were happy to toast my gluten free bread for me. All of the staff were extremely helpful and friendly from our arrival until our departure. They even put the two bottles of wine which we... more

Stayed for one night only on a Saturday. The positives would comment that the hotel is centrally located and the shower was good. Otherwise, this hotel is pretty dreadful. The rooms are like a 70's car crash - the decor is dreadful - I felt my head spinning on entering, the mish mash of decor was so bad. The 'double'... more

We have stayed in a few poor places in Oban previously, but the Rowantree was fine. Good location near pubs and restaurants, room quite spacious, bathroom clean and tidy, the bed was not the worst but could have been more comfortable. The staff were great, friendly and helpful and the breafast was good. We did not eat there in the... more

5 of us stayed for 2 nights at Rowantree Hotel and we were happy with the accomodation. Rooms are clean and comfortable, and all that is needed as we were hardly in our rooms, only downside was that you can hear every word from the room upstairs. Nice breakfast was had on each morning and staff are very friendly. The hotel is... more

5 of us arrived at this hotel 2 hours later than expected due to traffic problems. We arrived, very hungry, at 9.55 pm and asked if we would be able to get food. We were assured it wasn't a problem. The staff listened to and sympathised with our woes about our travels. The service was very friendly and efficient and... more

4th August 2008 First appearances can be deceptive! As you walk in the hallway and bar area are newly refurbished. It is when you reach your room that you find it to be totally different. There is a look of tiredness all round. Storage is poor with just a poorly constructed built-in wardrobe with very limited shelf space and just... more

Finding the hotel was already a problem, since it was sold to us as the Town House hotel. Its name, however, is still the Rowan Tree, and we needed a trip to Oban's tourist information centre to sort things out. We found the hotel in the middle of what looked like a total refurbishment operation, predominantly of the bar area.... more

This pleasant place, located close to the quais on the main shopping street, offers good if simple food and pleasant service. The rooms were a little outdated, but spacious and well painted. The bathrooms were clean and in working order, though a little worn at the edges. We got good service in the nice, new restaurant, which served British classics... more

This may have changed since I stopped here about 3 years ago. Generally it's a pub. The room that we had was adequate. The room overlooked the main street which is very busy and hence noisy. There are no scenic views from here as it faces the shops and buildings across the road. It is situated in the town centre... more

I stayed at the Rowantree and found it to be a no nonsense hotel with kind, friendly staff. Great Scottish Breakfast and nice rooms. Would stay again more
