Don't even think of making a reservation at this place. I called and talked to a non-native English speaker who said everything was set. A few days later I called back to check and THEY HAD NO RESERVATION. So, I made alternative arrangements. Then they CHARGED MY CARD FOR CANCELLATION / NO SHOW. The place is not worth the money.... more

Myself and my husband stayed here for one night as part of a small party at the weekend. We found the hotel to be very comfortable and I really liked the old-world country charm. Our room was a standard room I think, on the ground floor. It was very spacious with a bed roughly the same size as China, 2... more

I stayed here for a long weekend with my wife and 2 yr old daughter. We had a "Tower Suite" which was fantastic. It had a seperate lounge and a really nice, newly refurbished bathroom. The standard of decor was not all top notch in the hotel - and some of it had a faded feel - but we didn't... more

Stayed at this hotel for a wedding and considered it an absolute rip off, the cost of a room is £180 per night, however if you were feeling generous you should only pay £90. The rooms are shabby and need a complete refurbishment. In addition you have the feeling that the staff were trained in Faulty Towers. more

4 of us stayed here for several days - unfortunately very wet weather but the surrounding area is lovely. Melrose itself is a beautiful town and well worth a visit. All of us had comfortable rooms - one couple had a double room at the front of the hotel overlooking the River Tweed. The room itself was huge and extremely... more

My husband and I booked one night in this hotel as we were guests at a wedding reception being held there. As we could not check in before an specific time this meant reception was full of wedding guests having just come from the church service. When we saw the room we were quite disgusted by the £150 per night... more

We had read mixed reviews of this hotel and weren't sure what to expect but it was excellent. It is a little worn at the edges - don't expect modern hotel standards (ie. the usual brown leather sofas and no atmosphere...) but it is all the better for the faded country charm. Food was excellent - and good wine too.... more

Took my parents for a weekend break to Scotland. Found the hotel on Google and decided to give it go. So glad we did! Rooms were lovely, very spacious and had brilliant views of the Abbey and the River Tweed (although needed a bit of tlc). Food in the restaurant was superb, both to look at and to eat, and... more

After our poor experience in December ("lovely hotel, shame about the room") we were invited back and spent 2 days 11-13 April. This time we were given a deluxe room which was amazing. It was absolutely huge, with a wonderful view of the garden and river from an enormous bay window, which had an armchair, couch and table in the... more

Stayed 16-18 March 2007. Stayed in room 4 (a double). Room was reasonably spacious, well appointed, fresh decor, all furniture in good condition. Biggest bed we've ever slept in! Everything functioned (tv, kettle, hairdryer, shower) and we had no complaints. Food was superb at both dinner and breakfast, quality could not be faulted and the service was of a high... more
