We looked at a number of hotels in the borders for getting married. Linda at the Heatherlie was by far the most helpful person we spoke to, and their fee was very reasonable.
As the day approached, they couldn't have done more for us.
They replanted the flower beds, returfed a slightly sparse section of the lawn and erected a beautiful gazebo in case it rained, because we wanted to have the ceremony outside. As our guests arrived, they were served bubbly on the lawn. Everyone thought the venue was lovely, and the food was excellent.
Shortly before the ceremony, one of our wedding party discovered a stain on his jacobean shirt. They didn't ask, but Linda washed it and dried it and almost removed the mark. Then, she produced new shirt in the right size just in time for the service!
The rooms there are spacious and beautifully furnished although the bathrooms are small. They managed to fulfill all the guests requests for extra beds/ adjoining rooms etc and everyone seemed... more
