Have just returned from a family wedding where all but 2 apartments were't occupied by our party. No issues with the cold as previously indicated, too warm at times, mix of old and new furmishings but that didn't matter. Great for large parties looking to enjoy great countryside, good friends and roomy accomidation. more

We hired the Eildon Apartment which is at the rear of the main Mansion House for Easter week. The house was cold!!!!!!!! and others complained of the same in front of main house as did multiple entries in the visitor book back to 2005. You have to pay for you own electricity, but even with all the storage heaters on... more

I can't fault the welcome we had when we arrived and the cottage is nice and great for a weekend away. The area is lovely and I can highly recommend a visit to Kelso where we found a couple of nice restaurants. It is also only just over an hour's drive to Edinburgh. My only complaint is that you are... more

We have just returned from a week in the RedGauntlet Cottage at Whitmuir Hall. There was 6 of us plus a baby and we found the cottage clean, comfortable and nicely decorated, staff very friendly and helpful. The pool and games room made the holdiay for the kids (all teenagers), not once did anyone say 'I'm bored' which is a... more

We arrived at whitmuir to find the place absolutely freezing! This large victorian house must have been splendid in its day but only has electric storage heaters, some which did not work. We are not just southern softies, we live in a very old house which is cooler than most, despite having the heating on constantly, it was uncomfortably cold!!... more

I've stayed at Whitmuir Hall twice now and both times have been fantastic - clean, tidy and well stocked apartments, helpful staff who are available if you need them but leave you in peace if you don't, gorgeous surroundings - what more could you want? The pool is beautifully clean and pleasant, the main hall is amazing, and I can't... more

I booked a holiday at Whitmuir Hall and then panicked because of a terrible review on this site. However, was more than pleasantly surprised to find that our apartment was clean, recently refurbished and well looked after. I cannot believe that the person who posted the extremely bad rating actually stayed there - it is probably a rival operator!! The... more

I was almost put off going to Whitmuir Hall by comments in a TripAdvisor forum. Well, I cannot believe that the writer of those comments went to the same place that we did ! Whitmuir Hall is a rather majestic victorian house that has been converted into generously sized self catering apartments of character. We stayed in an oak panelled... more
