My parents, sister & fiance, my boyfriend and I stayed at the Galloway Arms Hotel for 1 night on Saturday as part of a family weekend away. Our room was lovely, good size and spotless. Our rate; very reasonable, included dinner. Massive portions but delicious! We ate in the very comfortable bar/lounge area of the hotel although we were given the choice of the restaurant also. The hotel is situated right on the main road that runs through Newton Stewart so you cant miss it. All staff we encountered were friendly and chatty, even willing to offer suggestions of what to do in the local area. There are a couple of gorgeous beaches around a 10-15 minute drive away, numerous bars within easy walking distance (if you don't stay in one of the hotel's bars) and the 7 stanes cycling trails close by. Luckily enough we managed to be there through the hottest weekend of the year so far!! We will definately be back, mainly due to this charming little hotel. more
