My wife, two children and I enjoyed our one night stay at this hotel and thought the leisure facilities were terrific. The staff were very helpful and courteous. The breakfast was good and our room was pretty good too . I admit I was a bit wary beforehand (based on some of the feedback I have read on tripadvisor) but all... more

As a business traveller I found this hotel totally unacceptable. The booking had been made incorrectly and when I checked out early I was virtually told I couldn't as that was not the details of the booking. The reception staff were just rude and unfriendly. The hotel doesn't have a comfortable lounge area and the only food available is in... more

This hotel needs a total overhaul.I stayed with a group of friends on a golfing trip. Breakfast was a joke. The plates just about had enough room for a couple of sausages and piece of bacon. Rooms set in a rabbit warren of corridors. We had to walk a fair way to the room with bags and clubs in fact we had... more

It's not the worst 3-star I've experienced but it's definently a fading 3-star, rather than an aspiring 4-star. It has a classic old-school Scottish 1980-luxury feel about it, with a small-time gym and swimming pool thrown in for that certain "j'ne se qua". Throw in a mix of eastern European staff and you have quite a eclectic atmosphere. All-in-all it's... more

A very disappointing stay. Room was appalling and bathroom was worse. Very little ventilation afforded from the window and bathroom was on the small side and bath should have been condemned. We showered at the leisure club after a swim the next morning. (The only highlight for our kids was the pool ) The staff were hand picked ! When... more

When we entered the hotel it reminded us of the film 'The Shinning' We awnted to see what champagne they had as we were looking for a place for our wedding reception. Bar man said they diont do champagne but can offer us Blackthorn Cider!!! During the night we were woken up with doors banging. Breakfast was served from Chaffron... more

We arrived in Dumfries and decided on this hotel as we drove in, purley on the way it looked. we managed to get the last double room which was very small but clean and comfortable. The bath was shabby looking with marks on the bottom of it and cracked on the bath panel - not good when you pay £100... more

Stayed in this hotel over Christmas and the christmas dinner was processed turkey and tasteless. The buffet lunch at night was the worst ever, all the left overs from the dinner in the middle of the day. We left our turkey lunch as it was so bad. It was money lost and we wish we had stayed at home. It... more
