as soon as we arrived we were made to feel welcome, our comfortable family room was suprisingly huge and we settled in straight away. Ken and his family treated us with much respect, and we wanted for nothing. The food was delicious as our set one course meal turned into three courses! Thank you to Ken and family, have had... more

The hotel is in the village of Torthorwald about 4 miles from the centre of Dumfries. The food in the bar area and restaurant is excellent and there is a good choice. They were very helpful when our 2 year old granddaughter joined us for dinner. The breakfast choice was good and again of a good standard. Our rooms were... more

We were on a family history trail and stayed here as it was central to the area we were searching, and we are so glad we found it! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Ken, the host, was extremely welcoming. We ate in the restaurant and the food was wonderful. The breakfasts were great too. The room was lovely and beds... more

Quite a nice place to stay. I paid for £50 for single B&B although I had a triple room (double + single) so I had a decent sized room - a bit of luck because some reviewers have noted smallish rooms here. Room & bathroom OK. Nicely decorated & appointed. Desk if you want to use a laptop. Bed comfortable.... more

Stayed at The Manor for a weekend golf break and thought it was very good value. It's not 5-star but then you're not paying 5-star prices either. The room was fine - very clean and well-maintained. The food was good, both in the bar and in the restaurant and the staff were very friendly. The landlord Ken even gave us... more

We stayed at the Manor House on a Tuesday evening en-route to Fort William. We were made very welcome by hosts Ken, Caroline and Jacqui. The facilities in the clean and tidy first floor room were adequate but not luxurious; we did not find the bed to be the most comfortable sleeping experience we had during our short break. The... more

I am originally from Dumfries, and returned for a family birthday and stayed at The Manor. We managed to get B+B for £65 for a double room, which was good value. Room was good sized and clean, and breakfast in the morning was nice, although only half a slice of haggis! Us Scots can eat a full slice.... Where the... more

I stayed here with a group of 9 Golfers. From the minute we landed we were very well looked after. The rooms were very good, clean sheets, towels daily etc. Hot showers Hurrah!!!Excellent off road parking. Breakfasts were the best we have had in 9 years of golfing holidays. There is a very good restaurant attached judging by the numbers... more

I found this hotel to be a small well run friendly affair with the owners doing everything they could to make our stay a happy one. We stayed the weekend of the Scarecrow Festival - with some great scarecrows distributed around the grounds. The rooms were basic - but clean. My only complaint was the shower in the room was... more

Firstly i must say that this is by no means a 5*hotel. But what you do get for your money is a comfortable place to stay and great service. The restaurant is a little dated in its decor but the food is outstanding!! I can recommend the pan fried duck breast in an orange and almond sauce served on a... more
