Centrally located, not only near public transport but Dumfries/Galloway is underrated for tourism. The proprietors go the last mile in helping visitors. Their in-room guide has a truly useful review of local places to eat, commenting on quality of food, quality of service, prices. There is no stinting on the breakfast. Aside from being across the street from the railroad... more

We can highly recommend the Ferintosh Guest house. We had a lovely dram of whisky on our arrival. Our host's Robertson & Emma were great and we recieved a very warm & friendly welcome on our arrival and they made our stay very enjoyable. The breakfast was delicious & set us up for the day. On the day of leaving... more

We stayed at Ferintosh recently and had a great time. Our room was nicely decorated with a Rabbie Burns theme and the shower was the hottest and most spacious we have ever had in a guest house. The breakfasts were great with the best porridge in scotland. Robertson and Emma were welcoming and friendly with a good knowledge of the... more

During our travels in Scotland, we found no other place to match Ferintosh. The host and hostess were gracious and just plain wonderful. We left feeling we had made new friends and, indeed, had been welcomed into a new family. We definitely plan on returning. The town of Dumfries and the area are very special, and Ferintosh was the icing... more

We stayed at the Ferintosh Guest house for 2 nights during our 3 weeks trip to Scotland earlier this month. Very nice house located near the city center. No direct parking as mentioned before but no problems at all to park in the nearby streets with the parking permit given when we arrived. Robertson and Emma are very friendly (Emma... more

I stayed at the Ferintosh as part of an organised 4 day event. Within moments of arriving I felt as if I was coming home. I was immediately made part of the Robertson and Emma Family. The help and advice over the 4 days was second to none. The varieties that were available at breakfast were truly mind boggling. One... more

I was only in town for 2 nights but Robertson and Emma (and Taffy and Riley) made sure I had a good time. From the complimentary wee drams to the kilt busting Scottish breakfast to advice on the best places to go sightseeing, they were wonderful hosts. My first night they took me to their favorite pub for dinner and... more

Stayed for 2 nights with my young son. Had to share a shower / w c with another room which we knew about in advance so can't complain. Major issue with lack of parking and I do feel website should be more upfront about this. Had to use residents' badge to park nearby but not comfortable with this. I later... more

There are 101 different spaces to park your car within a one minute walk of our front door- more if you are willing walk 2 or 3 minutes. Sad that he can’t understand that small towns like Dumfries allow tourists to park for free- he must be from the city. We ordered specialty items from our butcher for him (without...

Robertson and Emma are excellent hosts! They made us feel relaxed and attended to. Their knowledge of the local history and geography is very good, and they can give you an excellent tour of the area. You really MUST try the haggis for breakfast, it's made by a famed local chef. The rooms were excellent, with some of the most... more
