We stayed here for 3 nights in August and enjoyed our short break very much. The hotel has been extensively renovated producing facilities of a vey high standard. It is well worth contacting the hotel direct as we got a very good short break deal which was much better than any internet price. The breakfast was good but with a... more

Enjoyed a very good meal at the Ship Inn in Gatehouse of Fleet - we had just been looking for a takeaway, but these seem to be few and far between in this part of the world. Although all the tables had reserved signs when we arrived, the staff were able to accommodate us between 6pm and 7.30pm. We were... more

The hotel has undergone a complete makeover and no expense has been spared regards fittings and finishes. The staff are charged with being 'multi tasked' and are welcoming and friendly. Our room (room 3) boasted a bath room of kingsize proportions and a bath to match. Found it difficult to fault this hotel during our stay of three nights, just... more

If you stay at this "hotel" make sure you are not in rooms 1,2 or 3 as they are above the dining area and they vacuum at 6.30am every day, not pleasant when you are trying to have a realxing weekend away. Also we had no hot water on the Sunday, hotel appears to not have enough when they are... more

From entering The Ship Inn I was greeted with smiles and nothing seemed too much trouble, and this stayed to the end. My room was at the top and overlooked the main street but it's a quiet village and far enough up to not worry about traffic noises. The room it self was tastefully decorated with a contemporary feel that... more

We stayed for one evening after seeing the hotel in the "Scotland the Best" guide. Unfortunately, what could be a lovely hotel was really let down by the food. The rooms are nicely done and very clean and staff are helpful, if a bit slow. However, our meals were a total disaster - I had to send mine back. A... more

We stayed at The Ship Inn on 9-10 August 2008 and I cannot fault it at all. It was a lovely hotel and the staff were fantastic. They could not do enough for their guests, and they easily answered any questions and requests that we had. We also ate in the restaurant and the food was fantastic. Very fresh vegetables,... more

I always consult tripadvisor before booking a hotel, and was disappointed to find that the Ship Inn (called the Anwoth in its past life) at Gatehouse of Fleet wasn't featured. Thankfully I booked it anyway! What an experience it was. From the first contact at reception right through to check-out the next day, it was a joy to stay in.... more
