We stayed on route to the Isle of Skye. Lovely garden, shame about the owner's car that was so dirty that it had soil on the roof! There was an unfresh smell that permeated the house and especially our bathroom. However, the bedroom was clean and comfortable, if a little dated. There was a flat screen TV and a nice... more

Found Barrasgate clean and comfortable, the owners (and their dogs) were very friendly. The breakfast was noteworthy for using delicious local ingredients including eggs from their own hen house! Was really impressed by the quality of the rooms, great value for money. I Will be going back on my frequent visits up north. more

I stayed here as part of a tour of the local area. From the moment I got there, nothing was too much trouble even though they were busy welcoming other guests. The owners were chatty and took an interest in my travels, they showed me local maps and books and pointed out places of interest. My room was lovely and... more

We have just returned from a holiday in Scotland. We stayed at Barrasgate for the final 2 nights. Joan and Alan are pleasant enough people. They had no Kippers on the breakfast menu even though the webiste boasted having them. To be fair they went out and bought a kipper for day 2. The overall standard of cooking was poor.... more

I am sorry they were disappointed after their stay with us. I wish they had made us aware of any problems at the time. We do not boast about kippers any more than eggs and bacon they were only part of a breakfast menu. Our web pages are there as a guide to the meals we usually serve. We do...

I am writing this in response (and retaliation!) to the poor review which is featured on this page. My partner and I stayed in March and couldn't fault the guest house. The owners are a very sweet couple who couldn't be more helpful and the rooms are spotless. The atmosphere is warm and comfortable and the location very convenient but... more

We went here for our overnight stay before our wedding in Gretna green the following morning. We booked a late check via email well over one year in advance. We specified a late check out so we would have somewhere to get changed after the service. Our limo was due to pick us up at 11.05am and at 10.55am when... more

We were attending a wedding locally and stayed at this B&B for two nights. The room was large with bunk beds for the children and a conservatory. In the evening we were able to put the children to bed and sit in the conservatory with a drink, so could keep an eye on the kids and relax in peace. Our... more

I stayed here with my 4 children as it was one of the only places which had a family room. When we arrived owner seemed very pleasent but suggested that as the Guest House was fully booked there wasn't enough seating for all of us in the Dining Room during breakfast. He suggested that we could bring our breakfast into... more

We would like to respond to this review. He suggested that we could bring our breakfast into the Room which was opposite the Dining Room. I wasn't sure whether this was a...
