I stayed ay LInthorpe for Casting Tuiton. The B&B facilities were first class and very homely by comparison to many modern plastic hotels. Sue and Simon were kind hosts and their culinary abilities meant there was no desire to go anywhere else to eat. Twynholm is a quiet village, so if peace and time to reflect is your bag, this... We stayed a couple of nights at Linthorpe in September 2012. We received a warm welcome and were accomodated in a very spacious warm and comfortable room with easy chairs and a splendid kingsize bed. The ensuite bathroom was also excellent. Sue our hostess had thought of everything to make people feel at home. The breakfast was perfectly cooked and... More

Linthrope B&B in Twynholm, near Kirkcudbright, may be a little out of the way, but it's worth the effort to find (website gives good directions). Sue is an excellent host, as well as a renown fishing instructor. The room we had was large and lovely with a big window view to the yard and hills. Breakfast was a delight, especially... More

This is a very nice place, unique and picturesque. The owners are a fun pair, who made my stay both educational and interesting. The diner is a must...Sue is a fantastic cook and both her and Simon provide great converstation! They grow much of their own food and nearly everything is made from scratch using the finest ingredients. Sue is... More

We had a fantastic room, the lounge is as good as it gets (a wood fire is lit as soon as you appear if not before) and the food is first class. Breakfasts are more than adequate but the smoked trout is something else, caught and smoked by Sue it is an experience in itself. The dinners too are top... More

Every piece of food was crafted and flavour was paramount. We enjoyed Breakfast, Dinner and (packed) Lunch - all were excellent. Simon's bread is exceptionally satisfying and nourishing - evidence of craft and attention to detail. Sue is clearly endowed with many talents, BUT her pastry making would satisfy the sternest of judges. A great location for peace and quiet... More

Arriving with public transport was a little odyssey but definitely worth it! A very warm welcome and a comfortable, large room were waiting for me. Breakfast was delicious and included eggs from their own chickens as well as home made bread and jam. I came to join spinning lessons and received a very thorough introduction to this remarkable craft which... More

My wife and I recently (June, 2012) spent four days at Linthorpe B&B and, now back in California, we're experiencing something like pangs of homesickness for it. We enjoyed our time at Linthorpe B&B as much as we did for several reasons. It is, in the first place, an unusually comfortable, restful place to stay in a lovely part of... More
