We stayed in a local guest house but had meals in the Selkirk Bistro on two nights over the May Spring bank holiday weekend (2009). We meandered into Kircudbright almost by accident at 3pm and were welcomed warmly and were offered the last available room. The room was clean spacious and well-appointed if a little old-fashioned. Breakfast and dinner were served with smiles and attention and the food was delicious, including very fresh fish beautifully but not pretentiously prepared. Stayed here over the Rugby 6 Nations Weekend (20th - 23rd March) and were absolutely charmed by this Hotel and Kirkcudbright itself. This is a wonderful, friendly hotel in the very heart of picturesque Kirkcudbright. The facilities are first rate, the staff and management very friendly and helpful, and the local ale served is delicious! You won't find a better hotel in Kirkcudbright, and I can't wait to come back! more

Returned to the Selkirk Arms (appropriately, given the hotel's Burns connection, the night after the Bard's 250th birthday) in the company of an aged parent whose particular requirements were met in the form of a quiet, ground-floor room close to all public amenities and attentive, patient staff.
