Fludha enjoys a raised and commanding position, standing on a bend in the river Dee, with spectacular south-westerly views towards Kirkcudbright town, with McLellan Castle the main focal point. Review by Ab and Jeannette Ringma from the Netherlands. We stayed 4 nights with Steve and Christine during our tour through the Border area. Although the weather was not so good during much of our holiday, the stay in Fludha House made much of it good in warmth and hospitality. Apart from the beautiful setting of the house, the perfect... more

Just thought I would drop you a line to say thank you for a lovely weekend stay at your guesthouse. Phil and I had a great time with our family and it was made all the more memorable by staying in your lovely home. Our room was superb and the view delightful and we loved the freedom to come and... more

We stayed 1 night in this B&B (the name doesnt do it justice and they do serve good food -and wine - in the evenings. as well as a very good breakfast) in Kirkcudbright, a very nice town in a scenic part of Scotland Steve and Christine are extremely friendly hosts and keen to ensure that their guests have an... more

A fabulous 5 star guest house (the only one in lower Scotland to include the Borders and Dumfries & Galloway), with extremely gracious hosts...Steve and Christine Laycock. I only planned to spend 1 night but stayed 3 due to the warm, caring atmosphere that was so evident there. Lovely appointed bedrooms and guest rooms, it was obvious that much thought... more

We stayed here this Easter and couldn't have picked a nicer place, It is a little expensive for a B+B, but its as nice as any hotel I've ever stayed (and in my old Job I just to stay in a lot). The owners are very nice, friendly but not intrusive and very accommodating. One of the things we love... more

We adored Fludha and are determined to make it over the ocean at LEAST once more to stay there again! It is a beautiful house and down to the smallest detail the rooms have everything you could want for comfort and relaxation (my husband especially appreciated the enormous flat-screen TV on the wall!). Our room was exactly as pictured on... more

Fludha makes an excellent base for exploring the Scottish side of the Solway first because of the superb facilities and second because of its location. Our long weekend was relaxing and enjoyable and has been a constant topic of conversation since we arrived home. Chris and Steve know all about hospitality and a warm welcome and the house itself is... more

When I wrote my review of our stay at Fludha in June 2007, I promised that we would return when the house was fully renovated and operational. So, last weekend my wife and I visited Fludha again and were not disappointed. We were given another warm welcome by Christine and Steve, not forgetting Jake and Meg. The accommodation is not... more

Title says it all really. My husband, myself and small dog made very welcome on a two day trip to explore my family history beginning of November. It isn't cheap, but you pay for what you get. We stayed in the front right bedroom looking towards the house, super big room, super big views ...... thanks! more

My wife and I enjoyed a very pleasant weekend at Fludha and found Steve and Christine to be very nice hosts. Lovely meals and excellent accomodation. It was really spoiled however when we found that we had to pay for new pillowcases as my wife accidently got a small amount of make up on a pillow. They have a never... more

Management response from
Steve Laycock, Owner

This is the first time in the 6 years we have been in this business that we have felt compelled to levy such a charge, however where a guest leaves bedding so soiled that repeated washing (and yes we do use vanish) fails to remove multiple stains that were not there previously, then it is only fair to charge for...
