- Also Known As:
- Black Bull Hotel Moffat, Scotland
- Official Description (provided by the hotel):
-
The Black Bull Hotel in the heart of Moffat, Dumfries and Galloway was established in 1568. It was used as the headquarters for Graham of Claverhouse and his dragoons. They were sent by the English king to ruthlessly put down religious rebels in the South-West Borders. Another famous patron who we are more proud of was the Scottish Bard, Robert Burns who we are certain spent many hours drinking and in keeping with his reputation, womanising. In fact, the great man etched a poem onto one of the windows in our self named "Burns Room" and we have a replica of this window for guests and patrons to see. Steeped in History and amongst one of the oldest hotels in Scotland, the Black Bull provides a comfortable and lively base, serving day trippers, tourists, business visitors and the local community alike with superb food served daily. Whatever your tipple, we have a wide range of cask ales, draught beers and lagers and whisky. We regularly have entertainment on in both of our bars, Traditional Folk music in our lounge bar and anything from Kareoke to Live Bands in our railway bar. Whatever your reasons for travel, be sure to drop into The Black Bull for a visit!
