I have stay in many guest houses all over this country but have to say Garland is simply wonderful as the the owner and partner are such charming people, so helpful with almost everything from where to go and eat to simple places and thing to do while one is up in Scotland. The room are very clean and airy,... more

I can honestly say Garlands Guest House was the nicest B&B I have ever stayed in. For the price it was great value, huge spotless room, bath, free WiFi, excellent breakfast and owner Bill could not have been more professional and helpful. May appear a little away from the town centre, but there is a bus stop just across the... more

I go to the Edinburgh Festival each year and have been staying at Garlands for the past five years. I always get such a warm welcome each time I stay. The house is very striking, especially the dining room which is very elegant and decorated beautifully. The two large dining tables provide a good convivial atmosphere, where you can chat... more

Garlands is very centrally located and it is easy and quick to reach all parts of Edinburgh from here. It is a delightful late Georgian house, full of character and beautifully furnished. We ate our breakfast under a chandelier! The rooms and bathrooms are all spotlessly clean, and the breakfasts are excellent with a huge choice of food. There was... more

My partner and I stayed at Garlands for 4 days. Bill, the owner, was extremely pleasant and helpful, the room was clean, comfortable and spacious, as was the en-suite bathroom. The place has charm, with appropriately ornate decor (to suit the building) and classical music at breakfast. The breakfast, which was included, was good and a number of options were... more

I want to give credit where due. I had no complaint with my accommodation. Bathroom was keep exceptionally clean. The B&B in general was clean and quite. However, I had to take a double room because no single was available. Found myself having breakfast alone for most of my stay (FUNNY THAT). Breakfast was very good. I found the location... more

Recently stayed at Garlands for one night. Not the best B&B I have stayed in but very good for it's type and especially good value for the price.Clean and comfortable and a good breakfast. Bill was very helpful and very pleasant. I'm surprised to read comments about him being rude to guests. Only negative is it's a long walk from... more

We just got back from our trip to Edinburgh, Scotland where we stayed at Garlands guest house. The owner had given us directions how to walk from Waverley Bridge and in about 15 minutes we arrived at the beautifull Georgian house. The host Bill McGill was as nice as he had sounded on the telephone (with an accent that left... more

Staying at Garlands has been a highlight of my trips to Ediniburgh. From the welcoming staff, to the superb breakfasts and impeccable rooms each stay has been a pleasure. Garlands has a wonderful atmosphere and combined with the excellent location and outstanding service I cannot recommend it highly enough. Looking forward to my next trip - a home from home. more

This is a lovely welcoming guest house; its a spacious early Victorian building and all rooms well appointed and very clean. Breakfast is the best ive had in Scotland or England. This is a gay friendly house (though not in any way sleazy) and is close to venues in Broughton. The owner was obliging with my left luggage and gave... more
