This is a Hilton hotel, although that is not very visible. The building is old, and the rooms (although redecorated) are a bit stuffy. We did not have a very large room either: we could only manoeuvre around the bed with some difficulty. As I have a HHonors Card, we were upgraded - but this was to a "castle view"... more

This hotel is tauted as five star luxury, I completey disagree. I am a Hilton Gold Honors member and it took me SEVEN hours to get a room. I arrived early after an overnight flight from the U.S. and hoped a room might be ready. It was, but I had to wait SEVEN hours to get it. Then two of... more

Stayed here with a friend for a girly break and made use of their spa facilities. Took us quite a while to find our way to the hotel entrance as a lot of the city centre is closed off to traffic, but once we did find our way in there was enough space in the car park for us (car... more

We choose to experience the delights of this hotel and found this to be extremely average, over priced and dated facilities. Room small and rather shabby, appalling windows and in general needs some money spending on the facility. Would say the hotel is not very busy and not over friendly. Breakfast was good, however if paying full price it is... more

Dear guest, thank you for your short and concise views of our hotel during your recent visit to the Caley. I am sorry to hear that you were not overly impressed by the condition of your room. We have a stringent preventative maintenance program and investment program in place to prevent our 106 year old building showing its age where...

I live in edinburgh and had a meeting here. It was raining and they had no staff on the front door which was unfortunate for me as they had allowed water to pool on the smooth marble steps (you can guess where this is going). After my fall the health and safety manager Keith kindly informed me that "no one... more

The Caledonian Hotel enjoys a prime location at the end of Princes Street, directly under the castle and close to Usher Hall. It is one of Edinburgh’s ‘heritage’ hotels, most built by railway companies along the railway line that runs largely underground through the centre of Edinburgh. This one, built by (you may already guessed) the Caledonian Railway, has been... more

Travelled up for the rugby match, stayed Saturday night. Had dinner in the hotel, then retired to the bar for a few drinks. Young Irish lad behind the bar - best and most courteous barman I've ever met. Thanks for a great night. more

We recently enjoyed a 4 night stay at the Hilton Caledonian and can't recommend it highly enough. From the moment we were greeted, and the porter valet parked our car to the moment of departure, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The young lady in reception was excellent. Our rooms were lovely, comfortable and very clean, overlooking the castle with a superb... more

Upon arrival we were advised that our room was not ready and that the main desk staff would try and find us an alternative. Check in is at 3pm and were there for 2.55pm. We were provided with another room in the hotel which we were advised was the "new part" and which we discovered had no views and faced... more

We went to Edinburgh for a half term break with our six year old son and had a great time - easily able to access the sights from this base. This Hilton had a "children free offer" and our room was large enough to accommodate an extra bed for him comfortably. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. Breakfast... more
