The best thing about this Travelodge on St. Mary's Street is the location. There are lots of things to see within walking distance, and it was easy to lug two large suitcases from Waverley Station to the hotel. The room was spartan (bring your own shampoo) but surprisingly pleasant (ask for a room away from the busy street level). Now... more

This hotel is amazing value for money! We booked online at the Travelodge website and got a room for £19 and another for £29. At this hotel you pay by room and not by person. It is just round the corner from the Royal Mile and a short walk to the Castle, about 10min. It is a 5min walk from... more

We normally stay at the Premier Inn when we stay in Edinburgh but at £29 a night, it was too good an offer to miss. We arrived at 1.30 pm and was offered an early check in for £10 but we gave it a miss, rather wait until 3 pm. They couldn't store our bags either so off we went... more

It’s very hard to get excited about a Travelodge, everything was clean and in working order. The only thing I found odd about my room was the door on my bathroom was missing – not too much of a problem for me as I was sleeping by myself, but it might be a bit awkward for a couple. My main... more

Ideal Location, have stayed here a few times, but has gradually got very run down. Tables in bar not cleared although not very busy, generally grubby, Ask for a room away from the main road as the noise goes on all night long. Room ok, but only very basic, but clean,. No phone, no hairdriers. But I suppose they are... more

Situated half way along the royal mile, the travelodge is in an excellent location for all the local attractions. Just a short (though uphill) walk to the castle and about 10 min walk (downhill) to Holyrood Palace. There's an abundance of shops and resturaunts on the doorstep. The travelodge is spotlessly clean and staff are extremely polite & friendly. Breakfast... more

We have stayed at the Central for 3 years on the trot now. For its price and location it's ideal, especially as we visit during the fringe. The accommodation is basic but who wants to stay inside a hotel when you're in Edinburgh! The breakfast and evening meals are fairly average but there are a great deal of other options... more

I stayed in this hotel in May 2008 for a bank holiday weekend break to explore the city of Edinburgh. At the time our main criteria for accomadation was location (central and near to the main sights) and price (reasonable enough to provide a good standard hotel without breaking the bank). This hotel met this criteria but I was suprised... more

Stayed here on business, does exactly what you'd expect from a Travelodge - a comfortable place to sleep at reasonable cost. The location is very central, no more than 10 minutes from all the major tourist places, the business district slightly longer but taxis are plentiful. Not much noise encountered which suprised me given that I was allocated a ground... more
