We stay at the Mal very time we are in Edinburgh seeing our daughter. As always, the hotel and room are clean, tidy, comfortable and well equipped. The staff were extremely friendly and attentive. This year, we booked the "Northern Lights" package. £99 including two full breakfasts and a £20 voucher or food at the Brasserie. Exceptional value. Finally, they... More

My husband and I stayed at the hotel last week as a pre Christmas treat and we weren't disappointed. Very friendly woman at check in redirected us to the hotel car park and double checked the breakfast times before we went to our room. The room was spacious for a standard room with a view towards the water. Only downside... More

We stayed in the Port o Leith suite for a special birthday. I'd booked the Love Suite Love package, bringing the overall cost of the room for 1 night to over £300. Not cheap. The room was nice. It's big, well decorated & kitted out, but boy was it cold. The champagne & strawberries were there on arrival, as was... More

We booked this hotel through the Trivago website and paid $92 (after conversion £63) for a standard double room with breakfast - this was considerably cheaper than other deals on the web. It's not a huge hotel, but we were able to check-in before midday and the reception staff were very helpful and attentive. The room was comfortable and clean... More

We booked for 2nights at the hotel during the storm last week. The hotel is a bit away from the centre of edinburgh, but easily accessable with bus routes, free on-site parking is a bonus and quiet at night is another. We arrived to a warm welcome!.Our room was perfect in every way. The service throughout our stay was attentive, from the... More

We went to see a show at the Playhouse and stayed at the Malmaison for one night...what a disappointment! The room was spacious, warm and comfortable. The staff on check in were very good. We booked a table in the Brasseria for dinner and we were really looking forward to it but it was the worst meal we have ever... More

Being down at the rejuvenated Leith harbour area there is free car parking nearby and in the hotel car park too. We use this hotel once or twice a year and always feel as though we are being made welcome. Reception service is efficient and pleasant and obliging. Nothing stuffy or aloof about it. The rooms are warm and cosy... More

The design is brilliant and better than other hotels of this class. I like the quirky scottish touches such as trendy tartans and great whisky selection. Nice reception welcome and very helpful staff in general. But it took ages for our cocktails to arrive, nonetheless the staff were genuinely apologetic so maybe this is not reflective of their normal service... More

I really like Malmaison hotels and also wish they had a loyalty programme to recognise loyal guests. I also feel that the Aberdeen and Glasgow hotels deserve special mention for their excellence. We had booked a harbour view superior room and weren't sure if that's what we got as the assigned room (which wasn't upgraded even though the hotel appeared... More
