Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Firstly the state of the road in which is out of the hotel’s control but the biggest pot hole will cause mega damage to your car if you don’t see them! To be honest the price you pay to park you would think the road in would be better! Very friendly hotel reception staff, was given room swiftly and first impressions of room is good! However the bed was extremely uncomfortable it felt like a water bed really did not get a good nights sleep, very disappointing! We ate in the restaurant and the food was ok! Drinks were awful no cordials to put in soda water! Husband had a vodka which was flavoured as no other option offered! Everything in a pint glass whether you wanted it or not! Bathrooms very nice to be honest probably the best thing about the room! The windows were black with mould which was a little off putting! A few things i could have over looked but not getting a good night sleep before the flight defeated the purpose of the stay! Do have to mention the breakfast was ok, there is some choice but running out of butter at 7am is crazy? Biggest issue is no cash card only! We had our bank card scammed early in the week so thought cash would be better for us under these circumstances but nope card only! Not entirely sure that is legal refusing a legal tender of payment! Either way pretty ridiculous still riding on the back of COVID! Unlikely we would be enticed back which is due to the lack of sleep!

Hotel's Favourite
Stayed with a friend to enjoy Bruce Springsteen concert at Murrayfield. Check in was a breeze and kudos to the lovely chap on reception. Firstly allowed us to store passports in the hotel safe and then patiently answered our questions on transport options, which were spot on. Next day, after a very comfortable night's sleep, breakfast was more than adequate with lovely touches of take away coffee cups and bags for sandwiches. On checking out the same lovely chap was back on reception, asked if we had enjoyed the concert and again, patiently answered more of our questions on bus tours around Edinburgh. Fantastic stay & service. If ever I find myself in Edinburgh again I would definitely return.

Great value place to stay pre flight. Check in staff were friendly and efficient. A voucher saved us a bit on our car parking. Room was huge, clean and comfortable. We ate in the restaurant and this too was pretty reasonable. Would definitely recommend this hotel if traveling from Edinburgh airport.

We had a overnight stay, ready for our flight the next day, the staff was absolutely fantastic, they chatted to us and engaged with our children, they explained everything and was very friendly, the room was a great size, for a family of 5, had a meal that night which was decent price and was tasty, also had breakfast in morning which was plenty of choice, staff in the morning was same as the night before and again very friendly, We then stayed again on our return from holiday as it was a late flight into Edinburgh, different staff this time, but exactly the same experience, really friendly and helpful, The only thing I would say was we could hear the planes on the 2nd stay, but we was facing right onto the runway so what do you expect, I wouldn't say it was that bad, and certainly didn't keep me awake. Overall I would happily stay here again and would also recommend it to other's, price was very reasonable too.

When we arrived the system was down. We had to wait around half an hour to check in. It wasn’t fun for the kids after a long drive. I then went down to the restaurant and got some dinner, after I paid, they couldn’t give me a receipt. This was a loss as I wouldn’t be able to claim for personal expenses without detailed receipt. Finally, between 11 pm and mindnight, a couple of guys opened the door walked in! It was terrifying for my wife. The guys were polite and walked out quickly. They told me that they were given keys to 2 rooms and both turned out to be occupied! I called reception and they told me that the mix up may be because of similar names! Worst excuse ever. I was never let down by Holiday inn before, this time, you certainly didn’t impress. I hope you reflect on the customer experience.

Can't fault this lovely hotel. Room looked onto busy traffic but no road noise in room. Excellent breakfast with super efficient staff tackling very busy service. Happy to provide ice bucket and glasses for personal use in room. Rooms have air con that is noisy so not ideal over night but can be turned off. Trams and buses just minutes from it's doorstep and great Indian restaurant on the corner. Will definitely use again on future trips.

I stayed overnight and the deal included parking your car for duration of the holiday. I would give the room 2 out of 10, looking unloved. Struggled to park car, not enough parking spaces so parked on grass verge, other cars had parked on grass verge. Asked at reception, they said this was OK to park on grass verge. Left 5 o'clock in the morning to catch flight, was shouted at by reception what room where we in, then told to move car, i asked which car and was told a different car to mine and said it was not ours. I was told our car still needed to be moved due to the bus been unable to turn round, so I asked where, too. The duty manager said,'It would be ok to park in car park next door' but I said it is 'private car park' and not to park there.' Duty manager said it will be no issue parking there. Note: I had my own car keys with me at all times. On return from the holiday the car was not where I had parked it. So went in to holiday Inn with wife who was very upset , waiting about 10 minutes to be seen(in a queue) and was told by the receptionist that I should not have park there after explaining what the the duty manager had said to me. She repeated this comment' you should not have parked there between 10 and 20 times' . Which was very unhelpful, upsetting, and annoying. Duty manager then intervened and was rather clueless about what to do about the situation. The head of catering could hear there was a problem and came out to see if she could help. The catering manager was really helpful and explained she had seen a red car parked by itself in another car park and when outside on a dark cold night . She found the car behind some closed.gates and took us to the car. This event took over 1 hour to reslove. I phoned the hotel manager for an explanation, and she said she would be back in touch. I am still waiting 4 months later for her to reply.

Pros: - Close to airport. - Friendly staff. - Room was clean. - Room had a nice bathroom. - Shuttle service to airport. - Breakfast served from 4am. - Lots of parking spaces. Neg: - Road leading to car park has really large pot holes. - You have to pay extra for parking. - Tv in room is not in a great location. - Mould round window. - Waited over hour for food to find my order hadn’t been sent to the kitchen. Was refunded and rectified swiftly after being raised. Food was okay. - Room key stopped working two hours into my stay. I would come back out of convenience for the location if travelling through Edinburgh airport again.

Probably worst Holiday Inn we have stayed in. No warm welcome on arrival as IHG members and no mention of welcome drinks till we reminded them. No travel cot in room despite phoning earlier in week to request. Got it eventually after asking twice and had rude staff member telling me they do forget things and were short staffed! It took all of five minutes to take to our room. Sofa beds were made up in all our rooms , don’t know why so we had to turn back into a sofa so we could sit on. Only two teabags in room, rationed surely! Bar stock was rather disappinting although the bar man was very friendly and advised they had not received their delivery. Orange juice at breakfast was awful, could not drink it and the eggs tasted powdery! However, a positive was the gluten free choice. Need a better system for lost items! If you phone to advise you have left behind an item, you expect it to be waiting for you to collect. Instead, it was written in a book which nobody had looked at so no item had been found, even though it would have been found when stripping the bed. All in all, handy for the airport but the parking machine charged me twice and for an extra day. Would have been better moving the car round to the airport parking. The staff fobbed me off even though the machine is in their premises. Would look for alternative hotel in future if flying from Edinburgh airport again. Feel their standards are not up to the usual Holiday Inn standards. Is this because they have a large turnover of guests?
