Although adequate, I expected more from a hotel with 4-star rating. The basement room we originally booked was very dark and dormitory-like, with a generator rumbling (perhaps related to the construction work outside). Thanks to the friendly staffperson, we were able to choose another room. But the hotel was not nearly as nice as I expected from the website, and... more

I recently stayed at the Glenora for three nights in September with my husband and adult son. As we were sharing the room we were very pleasantly surprized by the huge size of the room, the high ceilings and space. The bathroom was lovely and it was quiet even though we were street side. The location was good and walking... more

Stayed for one night midweek at the Glenora and found it to be very comfortable. Like other reviews have said, there are a lot of stairs, but it is a beautiful old town house. I'm not sure how that could be a complaint unless they intended to get to their room another way. Staff were friendly and polite, public rooms... more

This hotel looks immensely better on its webpage than it is the flesh. It seems as though the public areas have been recently decorated and are very nice, the bedrooms are tired and the bathrooms are tiny - just a shower cubicle, no bath and when sitting on the loo - your knees touch the towel rail - not practical!!.... more

We stayed here for two nights and thoroughly enjoyed the stay. The hotel was a 10-15 minute walk from the town centre, which was brilliant because if was quite in the evening, however you were still in the middle of everything. Breakfast was piping hot, a good selection of cereals, fruit, cheese, scones, yoghurt etc. The staff were great and... more

I booked this hotel ( really a B & B ) on the outstanding comments given by other reviewers on this site, but after my stay there I can only presume that the people impressed with this place have stayed in some pretty awful establishments in the past. The fact that they have used a built in wardrobe to house... more

This is a nice hotel almost directly across the street from the Haymarket Train station. If you're arriving in Edinburgh by train, you'd be a 5 minute walk to the hotel from Haymarket (not Waverly) station. My wife and I, along with my parents, stayed in 2 rooms for 6 nights. The good: surprisingly big rooms, very clean, extremely quiet... more

Such a charming little hotel/B&B! I stayed there with my mum and sister and we all loved it! Very British (or Scottish), but at the same time too stylish to be British. In fact, it felt really Scandinavian... (I believe that's a good thing when it comes to interior design). It must have been very newly renovated because everything looked... more

I didn't stay at the Glenora but I wish I had! Instead I had foolishly booked at a B&B next door called the Rosebery. When I arrived at the Rosebery exhausted after an all-day conference, I discovered a scribbled note taped to the door stating no one was in and in an emergency to telephone a particular number. After the... more

My husband and I stayed at the Glenora guesthouse over St Patricks weekend. We had heard that they did a fantastic organic breakfast which they indeed do but what was equally as good was the understated elegance and charm of this restored building. The room was spacious, light and airy and spotlessly clean with a nice selection of organic teas... more
