The location of this hotel is fab! Right on Princes Street. AND if you park at the New Street Car Park, the hotel will validate your ticket. We parked for 27 hours for only £6. Inside the hotel it was very dated and old looking. Our room was spotless, but we had no view at all, just of an air... More

Just stayed for two nights over Six Nations weekend, which is going to drag the rating down as we payed through the teeth! Room was ok, smelt a bit musty on arrival, but appeared clean. Rooms are a bit dated and small and our bed was really uncomfortable. Lots of rugby fans in, but also a large group of teenage... More

Having stayed at the Mercure in Nottingham (a lovely refurbished hotel with great character), I was disappointed by the Mercure in Edinburgh on Princes Street. It falls sadly between chic modern and character hotels - probably a 1970s or 1980s build so the bathrooms are decidedly 3 star as is much of the decor. The bar/coffee lounge isn't open all... More

Location great, breakfast & evening meal very nice & excellent value for money, Stayed in room 270 on the second floor, room quite small but everthing required and it was clean & warm with an excellent shower, no view out of window except a brick wall about 20 yards away. We will use this hotel again when next in Edinburgh. More

Princess St is a fantastic location and the Mercure is in the middle of it. The room was clean and plenty of room for the 2 of us. The staff were polite. If breakfast is not included in your package it'll cost you 10 or 13 pounds. The bar and room service was expensive but that is to be expected.... More

I agree with an earlier reviewer in that I would not pay £200 for a room here. We paid £30 each (which included B&B) in the weekend following the New Year 2012 celebrations, and we felt that THAT was great value for money. The ongoing tram work meant that Princes street was closed to traffic. At the weekend this meant... More
