Nice Hotel, situated on the outskirts of the old town about 10 minutes walk from the Castle and 15 minutes from Prince's Street. Location was central to all main attractions. An old stone building with a lot of character, we stayed in a refurbished bedroom on the top floor. The accommodation was of excellent quality, you can see it is... more

Yikes. Would not go back here in a hurry. Just don't seem to have got themselves organised and have terrible communication between the staff. It's a goodish location - just a short stroll up to the Royal Mile but no real restaurants or bars you'd want to try in the area. My friend and I had booked for 3 nights... more

We have just returned from a 3 night break at the Best Western Edinburgh City. The hotel is conveniently situated less than one mile from Waverley railway station. The castle, national art galleries, Princes Street, Royal Mile, Grassmarket are all within easy walking distance and the modern art galleries a little further but still within walking distance. The museums and... more

Have been to Edinburgh on a number of occasions and this must be the worst room that we have stayed in to date. The room was a reasonable size and clean, however it was like sleeping on a hard-shoulder of a motorway! We asked at check-in for a room away from the front of the hotel / busy road, only... more

Just back from the Best Western City Hotel. Where do I start. Things seemed OK at the start. We were in a disabled room which gave us a bit more room so that was fine. Having a drink in the hotel we thought we might have to remortgage the house. we were charged £1.50 for lemonade that went with my... more

The staff at the hotel were always friendly and courteous. They helped as much as they could at all times. We stayed in one of the updated rooms which was extremely clean and very comfortable, the only downside was the shower-it says massage shower but is only a dribble!! The evening food was lovely however the breakfast really wasnt that... more

We stayed at this Hotel and were treated very badly. The staff were not interested in looking after guests, the food was dreadful, tables were not reserved in the restaurant as requested, morning calls didn't happen etc etc etc. We were cold, the rooms were not very clean, and we were generally uncomfortable.A complaint to the manager met with disinterest,... more

I stayed at the hotel while on a business trip for 1 night. This has a great location for the castle and gardens, also access to Grassmarket. Don't be put off by the Best Western branding, this is a great hotel currently being updated to 4 star standards. The rooms have loads of space and come with everything you need... more

We arrived at the hotel at a very busy Saturday lunch time but the staff on duty at the time were very friendly and courteous. The Hotel could be missed, as it is its own courtyard off Lauriston Place. There is a very small car park but ‘no parking’ tape was across the bays, which left the street & pay... more
