The hostel has a great location right on the Royal Mile, and is within walking distance to the castle, shops, restaurants etc. The hostel is very small, but the reception staff were very helpful and very friendly. On the plus side, the Royal Mile Backpackers has a superb city centre location, is affordable, and the staff keep the kitchen and bathroom areas clean. Unfortunately, however, a lot of guests are 'long-termers', and the 6-bedded dormitory that I stayed in was an absolute tip the whole time I was there, with the constant whiff (even with the windows... more

I spent over 3 months in all of Europe/UK and without question, my time at RMB was one of the highlights. Extremely accomodating and friendly.
