Just returned from spending the New Years holiday in Edinburgh. We stayed at the Orwell Lodge Hotel for three nights. On the positive side, the hotel staff were very nice and helpful but that does not make the stay in all cases and definately not this one. We have just spent 2 nights at this hotel and have to say were a little disappointed. The building and location are fine however we got the feeling that the hotel is not being managed well. The Orwell Lodge is excellent. It's in a beautiful victorian building with lovely stained glass windows and large, spacious rooms. Our room had a large comfortable bed and huge bay windows. Everything was clean and comfortable. The hotel seems to be in a very safe part of town. They offer high tea (whatever that is) and have an excelllent bar... more
