Agree with other visitors. Fifth floor restaurant not highly publicised, but extremely popular with guests so get there early. Views are fantastic. Surprised people breakfast on ground floor, but perhaps easier to get served. I was there as part of a business meeting and we had some late nights, but even so, the noise around the hotel of police sirens,... more

The joy of this hotel is its location, on Grassmarket in the centre of Edinburgh. If your room is on the front you will enjoy a spectacular view of the Castle. Grassmarket itself is an attractive area of pubs, restaurants and quirky little shops. This is a modern hotel and our room was large (two double beds) and light with... more

Fantastic and helpful welcome on reception, when checking in. My accommodation was arranged for me by work and I was shown to a room with two double beds! They both looked so inviting I really did have trouble choosing! It's a really gorgeous hotel. Beautiful, clean, modern rooms, fluffy white towels and a selection of toiletries with a cute rubber... more

We booked in at the hotel on my birthday and the staff were absolutly fantastic. They made my girlfriend and me feel so welcome and provided a personal service that you would normally only receive at an expensive boutique hotel. The room was great clean and comfortable. Staying in such a good hotel with such splendid service was an enjoyable... more

Perhaps I am spoilt by hotels in Asia but I was not so impressed with the Apex International Hotel, mainly by paying £100 per night for their "City" room which was extremely small. The room contained a small 'queen' size bed, a radiator, no air conditioning, and a window that opened slightly onto a car park. An old CRT TV... more

The Apex international was a lovely hotel on the grassmarket. Clean rooms (some with newer/more modern/fresher bathrooms than others!), lovely breakfast dining room view (over the castle). Only criticism was that on both nights we stayed there was some function or other which marred the "personal touch" and checking in or out was chaotic and lengthy. also, the rooms were... more

We recently celebrated my husband's birthday with a trip to Edinburgh to see the Tattoo booked through Superbreak. The only fault we could find with the hotel was that for us, it was too warm. The room was very clean, bed very comfortable, view superb. Also the breakfast was very nicely cooked and the service could not be faulted. All... more

In many respects this is a very nice 4-star hotel. The staff are friendly, attentive and helpful. It has a pleasant bar. The swimming pool and gym are nice (the pool is long enough to swim lengths and not too hot). The rooms and bathrooms are attractive. HOWEVER, we stayed on the side of the hotel that faces the road... more

Took my young family to Edinburgh on the sleeper train from London (would thoroughly recommend the experience- cramped but fun) and landed at the Apex International. Courteous and very helpful staff; fantastic family room with superb view of the Castle; kids enjoyed the swiimming pool and equally the full breakfast where they had haggis & black pudding for the first... more

Fantastic location, within easy reach of Princess St, Castle, and good restaurants etc, limited parking although we were lucky to get this. We were a family of four, two children aged 9 & 11, having lugged our cases round (we were in the middle of a two week tour around Scotland so had quite a bit) then had to drag... more
