We arrived in Edinburgh without booking anywhere. Found the Riswell Hotel and parked up in the small drive. We where greeted by a Very Rude man who gave us the keys to view the room ourselves. We asked if there was more parking as only room for 3 cars at the most. His reply was "well how many places do... more

The proprietor of this hotel is one of the rudest and most aggressive people you will ever meet. I was booked to stay here during a long distance cycling trip, however was so put off by the owner's attitude right from the start that I went out and found another B and B immediately (we were lucky to be able... more

This view is also shared by the staff. The rooms are cleanish the food is awful. Breakfast seems to be cooked at 5 a.m and then incinerated until time to serve at 8 a.m. In fairness the staff were friendly, but they still served up food they would not eat themselves. The house is owned and run by an old... more

As I arrived, I was greeted by a foreign couple standing outside, now at their wits end, as they struggled to get through some confusing locks at the front doors. After 5 minutes and no amount of door bell rining, we managed to get in and I rang the bell for attention as instructed by a little sign in the... more

Avoid at all costs. The hotel was horrible and the manager was drunk and abusive. I would rather sleep rough than stop here. more

Having read the reviews on Tripadvisor after another family member booked this hotel, I was determined to put on a positive face, but the elderly man who opened the door asked me gruffly what I wanted (despite having been informed previously that I was arriving on a flight from London that evening). The small single room on the top floor... more

We needed a functional guest house for a trip nto see the rugby, and this place did the job. The place has been decorated to within an inch of its life - not my taste, but there you go. We had a triple room at the top of the house with no en suite. I don't think there are many... more

Hard to find if not used to the fact that the street names change every few blocks. We drove past it numerous times looking for a cross street only to realize the we were on the street and the name had changed. (On same street as train station) Proprietor not helpful at all with directions but he did stay up... more

We stayed at this "wonderful" establishment for one night when visiting Edinburgh to attend the Tattoo. We were met at the door by a very abrupt "lady" who was just leaving. She showed us into the hotel, indicating where the dining room was and running us up the stairs to a room at the back of the hotel. The room... more
