arrived at the bed and breakfast and was impressed by the furniture. not so by the owner. she handed me the key to our twin room, didn't show us the room and said it was up the stairs and that breakfast would be from 8-9. so much for what time would we like to have breakfast.

the room was very comfortable and pleasantly decorated. the shower was average at best.

at breakfast the next day i asked for 2 poached eggs, some bacon, tomatoes and mushrooms. i was told i'll just bring everything and you can not eat what you don't want. i received one egg, one half of one tomato, one sliced mushroom and the worst supermarket sausage one could buy. the bacon was fine.

for £35 per person per night, i would run to another place where the joy of operating a bed and breakfast was a natural part of the character of the owner.

Location
The house is in Murrayfield, a beautiful and quiet neighborhood on the outskirts of Edinburgh. It is only about a 10 minute bus ride to the center of the city (Princes Street) and there are several buses you can take. The bus stop itself is only a 3 minute walk down the street. There is also plenty of parking on the street in front of the house.

Rooms
The house is a beautiful old Victorian home. Our room was georgeous with a big bay window facing the street and an en suite bathroom. The weather was (we are told) unseasonably cold and, with high ceilings and the heat turned off, the room was very chilly. However, to be fair, we never asked for the heat to be turned on because we arrived very late. There was a gas fireplace in the room, but we didn't want to sleep with it on. Also, the bed was not an actual king, but two twins tied together.
The bathroom fixtures seemed very new, but the water pressure is what you'd expect from a 130 year old home...
