I recently chose to stay here for a night due to having to get an early morning flight from Edinburgh airport. It was convenient and the drive down to the airport took approx 15 mins in the early morning. We checked in and got the keycard for our room. The first impression was good and the room was classily furnished... more

My partner and I stayed here for two nights, 4th/5th July to attend a wedding. The hotel is really contemporary and looks great inside and out. We had a standard room, which we found was okay in size. It has quite a large bathroom, a king size bed, plasma tv, tea and coffee making facilities, a hairdryer, iron and ironing... more

We stayed at the hotel for three nights over the Easter weekend and had a great time. I'm really fussy about hotels - especially cleanliness - but I really can't fault the Dakota, it was spotless. The rooms are lovely, exactly as you see on their website. Fantastic showers too! Shame about the plastic washbasins but maybe I'm being a... more

Lets be clear this isn't a cheap hotel for a single business traveller. It's location is dire unless you have a car and you have no choice of alternative quality restaurants nearby. But despite this it is a lovely place to stay, extremely quiet and comfortable with some of the most charming reservation and front desk staff l have ever... more

I have stayed at the Dakota twice, once on business and then as a weekend break. First impressions were such that I booked a romantic weekend break. The reception and bar is very trendy, dark overtones and quite intermit, some say fashioned on trendy New York nightclubs, the staff are all very pleasant and helpful, rooms were excellent, good sizes,... more

Just returned from a long weekend trip to Edinburgh. Enjoyed a wonderful stay at this hotel. Yes it is out of the city centre but more than makes up for this with the standard of accommodation!! Staff members were always very cheerful and helpful. Room was a great size with all the extra facilities. Bed was fantastic and of course... more

Having briefly looked at the comments about this hotel, I booked it for three nights. The hotel itself is modern and new. Actually from the reception notice, this hotel was rated the best new hotel of 2008. The decoration is nice throughout the hotel including the rooms. The food in the restaurant is above average but not very impressive as... more

Stayed for one night (Saturday), simply as a treat away. We are familiar with the Dakota brand, as there is a sister hotel outside Glasgow, where we live. Therefore we knew that the hotel wouldn't have picture postcard views, (it overlooks the motorway)or be in the middle of hustle and bustle. All we wanted was a nice room, good food... more

My wife and I heard many good thing about this hotel but were sadly dissapointed. The location overlooks a motorway and Tesco's/ McDonalds and although the decor of the hotel is nice the staff were not trained well and the service was poor. The room was nice, though could have been cleaned better. Most dissapointing was dinner, slow service and... more

We've just spent one night DBB at the Dakota and was very impressed. I'm very fussy when it comes to hotels but after reading the reviews on this one along with the affordable price we gave it a go. At £89 for a room I wasn't expecting 4* treatment but was pleasantly surprised. This is the cleanest hotel I've stayed... more
