We visited the Hawes Inn for a family reunion, had a lovely meal, my husband would recommend the mixed grill as great value, but no room for a pudding!! we received great service from pleasent staff, the pub was nice and cosy with the log fires lit on a such cold wet day. more

We stayed the weekend in edinburgh and, on recommendation, travelled to South Queensferry for Sunday lunch on 1 November. Whilst it is a beautiful pub in a lovely location on that particular day the weather was wet and cold. We had to ask for the heating to be turned up (staff actually lit the fire). We ordered 3 roasts and... more

Hubs and I were visiting Edinburgh Castle but didn't want to stay in Edinburgh because the parking was a nightmare, so I came across this Inn and booked with trepidation because I didn't know much about it. Was thrilled to see it 'down below' as we crossed the Bridge of Fourth, it looked so pretty. Up close it was even... more

Stayed here for three nights, ( friday to monday and got the sunday night free!) and we loved every minute of it! We had two spacious rooms overlooking the sea and the bathrooms were very modern. The pub and restaurant downstairs had a menu with a lot of nice food to chose from, and to resonable prices too. The staff... more

Coming from a nation where the we don't really have any buildings older than 200 years, I was pretty impressed to find this 400 year old pub with views of the water for a reasonable price. The Hawes Inn is located in a great spot next to the impressive Forth Rail Bridge. Our room was clean and cosy, and we... more

City centre hotels tend to be very expensive, and in a hot spot like Edinburgh the quality often fails to live up to the price. On a recent visit we spent a couple of nights at the Hawes Inn in pretty South Queensferry for £130 B&B. The location couldn't be more dramatic, under the Forth Rail Bridge, the room was... more

Only went in for Evening meal. Had to ask for the table to be cleared.... staff standing about.... Beer glasses and empty crisp packet removed. Had to go back and ask again for table to be cleaned of crumbs and marks of previous customers. Very surly barman took spray, cloth and cleaned table without as much as a smile or... more

Stayed here in October 2008 as a base for exploring Edinburgh. Good welcoming atmosphere and very friendly staff. The continental breakfast was generous and the hotel also served tasty lunches and evening meals at reasonable prices. Stunning views of the railway and road bridges from the dining rooms. We stayed in room 12 at the rear of the property which... more

A fine cosy historic inn in a great location. We very much enjoyed our 6 day stay and would probably go back, but it's not without problems. We loved the general ambience and the view over the Forth and the bridges. However... Breakfast was a pretty miserable experience until the shortcomings were pointed out to the manager. The breakfast buffet... more

Just back from a 3 night stay in mid July. Terrific location with brilliant views of the Forth and the bridges. All the staff both professional and very friendly. Great inn food with a really good selection of beers and wines. Room was spacious, spotlessly clean and reasonably well appointed. Plenty of history about this place with lots of photographs... more
