We stopped for dinner on our way back across the border, and the smell of the food was amazing as we stepped out of the car. The food was great, very traditional home-made meals. The place was very cosy yet quite classy, we were very surprised to see the reasonable prices as we were a little concerned upon entering that... More

If you are visiting the area, do visit the Carfraemill. I recently celebrated my Birthday and requested an evening meal in the bistro. it was SUPERB ! My companion and I both had the steak, done to absolute perfection may I add, and unlike most restaurants which just supply the usual array of vegetables already on the plate, you choose... More

Enjoyed a great meal in the restaurant. Excellent menu for all courses, with plenty choices for all the family. Very friendly service too & good value. Highly recommended (try the steak pie or fish & a crumble for pudding)

Have had 2 fabulous family lunches there recently,Mothers Day and Easter Sunday. Particularly like the fact that food is sourced in the borders, as much as is possible and everything is homemade, the pate and oatcakes mmmmmm. Service was good too, well done!

My wife and I recently took advantage of the "romantic break" package being offered at the Lodge Carfraemill and were not disappointed. The staff were friendly and welcoming and our room (number 2) was clean, fresh and well appointed. The lodge offers a wide and varied selection of evening meals and ours were good. The breakfast was similarly wholesome with a good... More

Stayed here 11th February 2013 on a dinner, bed and breakfast basis for 1 night. Second time we have stayed here and the service, food and accommodation were superb. The staff are very friendly and nothing is too much bother. We shall be back.

We recently stayed overnight for their Hogmanay evening. The rooms were spacious, clean and comfortable. An excellent evening, although more focused on young farming community, but food was first class and the buffet was all very well managed. The breakfast was worth the trip on its own as the excellent service continued. An excellent location for Edinburgh or the Borders... More
