We stayed at Brae Guest House only one night. The room was very comfortable, nicely decorated and with a pleasant view to the gardens. The room was an en-suite and bathroom was very clean and tidy.
Breakfast was very good, with fruits, cereals and the full scottish available. The only thing is that it was available only during one hour in the mornings, so you'd better put the alarm on and don't miss it! The breakfast room decoration is so nice, that makes you experience the scottish environment.
The location is very good, close to some of the atractions in Edinburgh, like the Arthur's seat, the Holyrood Park, Salisbury Crags. Very close to the city centre (10 min by bus), with buses across the road.
Please, be careful not getting confused with "The Brae Lodge Guest House". Unfortunately I did it, but Sandra was very helpful to pick us up in the wrong place!!
I would definitely go there again, and I recommend it to my friends.

If you're comfortable with old-fashioned B&B hospitality then Braeside is perfect for you.
B&B: parking is a bit of a problem but there are usually spaces next door at the Bosville Hotel or just up the road. Host Phil greeted us and was very chatty and informative on Portree (have a look at his web page "Phil's Osophy", so do I need to say anything else...?). The decor could be updated but everywhere is very clean and there's a comfortable lounge for guests with lots of books of local and general interest. The rooms are up very steep stairs but Phil was great helping with the luggage. You can't lock the doors (only from inside) but since trust seems to be the word we didn't have any problems with this.
Room: a but basic but...
