We stayed at the Carriden as part of a family vacation. The place was easy to find given the map on their website, but the access road is a bit on the poorly maintained side. That aside, once you are there, you'll find Carriden House an interesting place. It's a huge house at a lovely location. You can walk down... more

My wife and I stayed here June 26, 2008 as part of our driving vacation through Scotland. The room was very nicely decorated and had lovely views. The grounds are nice to walk through with nice garden areas. There is an interesting overgrown cemetery next to it which was fascinating to walk through and reflect. The breakfast was very good,... more

My husband and I stayed at Carriden House our last two nights in Scotland. As others have stated, it was somewhat hard to find (my GPS was confused!) but eventually we found the place and never had a problem getting back. We stayed in the 4 poster room which was large and lovely. It was a bit chilly but we... more

This is an oldfashioned guest house in part of an old manor house. Dont expect flash. It had a bit of a 'granny' vibe about it but the rooms were large, the staff and owners friendly and helpful and the breakfast very nice. There is wireless internet in the drawing room and plenty of parking. A nice stop outside of... more

I can't understand the bad review given below; we loved our first stay at the Carriden House so much that we came back again a week later!! The location IS a bit hard to find, especially if you are coming from the main road. The unpaved drive services several properties, including a working farm with real close-up views of shaggy... more

We actually bought 2 nights via a school auction, which we overpaid in support of the school but we had no idea what we were letting ourselves in for! It was very hard to find as the description on their website was not accurately detailed. For some reason you can only see the road name approaching it from one side... more

We are sorry to hear that this reviewer didn't like Carriden House. He had "won" the bed and breakfast accommodation in a charity auction, to which we had donated a family weekend away, and for which we received no payment. In fact, he had also booked a second room, because he didn't want to share the family room with his...

My wife and I stayed for two nights in September '07 while driving around the UK. Friendly people, great room, great breakfast, great view from room, quiet surrounds and good access to Edinburgh. We drove to a Park and Ride on the outskirts of Edinburgh and then caught the bus...easy and avoided Edinburgh traffic. Could also have caught the train... more

We have just returned from a two week trip to Scotland and Normandy. Along our journey, we stayed at the Carriden House, which really looks more like castle. Barbara & Graham Blackbourn were our hosts. They have rebuilt this home with modern amenities while retaining the feel of a historic castle. It was a wonderful place to come back to... more

We've been there with a group of 7 people and it's been marvellous. huge rooms, one with a 4poster bed, nice bathrooms, excellent and very friendly staff and a wonderful breakfast. you can spend the evenings sitting in front of a fire, in colder days, in the big living room or playing the piano. there is something for everybody to... more
